toon1966, you can't just go to a tribunal anymore, you have to put up about £1200, an impossible amount for a low pay worker to raise or risk. Agency workers are also just as vulnerable as this third party employee, they can be removed on a whim with no comeback at all. I'm surprised that the major Unions don't recruit agency workers since they are in the same position as dockers were in London in the 1950's. There's a huge social change taking place due to the so called 'gig' economy. People with no strength to defend themselves are as disposable as a plastic cup! Tesco's should have looked into this properly, they failed somebody and blackened the name of an innocent person who was in effect their employee, as I doubt he worked in any other location. We are living in a new Victorian age as far as the young and unskilled are concerned.

Dont agree. If tesco gets booker confirmation (pretty likely) there will be a rally. I have done some calculations and think we will quickly run to approx 220

filmster: did you read the article? The police investigated and confirmed it was someone else, and not him. That does indeed mean he didn't do it (commit theft).Anyway; this digresses from my intended point, that being, local management executed poorly over an extended period which should be addressed.

Sorry but I don't see TSCO now going past 200p which it needed to do

Amazon has targeted Waitrose for starters in the UK

Mid 2018

It will be targeting a next rung Supermarket

Amazon strategy looks like picking good quality 2nd tier add ons and then leveraging them upwards to meet the volumes that Amazon want to sell

So why didn't he make his grievances through an employment tribunal? At least Tesco have written to him saying he may have suffered "a significant injustice".

Didn't have evidence but doesnt mean he didn't do it. Just means they cant prove he did it. Maybe they know he did it and so dont want to employ a thief

...sacked on direction from Tesco staff (back to the outsourcer) who said they had evidence of him stealing, which they did not.Tesco security fault (let's call it) cost him his job and local store management escalated through ignorance -to the point it's become national news.

The guy was not employed directly by tesco. He was employed by a security company called TSS. They sacked him not Tesco.

The branch manager should be sacked, as a minimum.

The protester has been outside the front of the store (on common ground) for months, but was ignored since they thought he'd melt away. It should have been clear that wouldn't be the case as the protest, through his very evident tenacity, continued week after week.

Instead of ignoring him local management should have proactively de-escalated. They handled it wrongly, and they should pay a price imo. A primary destination Extra format store closed for 20 hours because senior management had their heads in the sand imo.

Well I'm not so sure Mercer, if what he's claiming is correct I think maybe he should be praised for making a stand.

Too many people stand back and take an unjustified kicking when someone makes accusations that prove to be untrue.

Of course if he did in fact nick all this stuff then he should be put through the courts and jailed.

'Booths teams up with Amazon to sell down South for the first time'

Booths, the so-called "Waitrose of the North", has inked a deal with Amazon Fresh that will see the upmarket grocer's product become available for southern shoppers for the first time.

The 170-year-old family-owned business has until now shirked expanding across the country. Earlier this year it decided to take its first steps out of the North West with a joint venture in Malaysia rather than attempt to crack the South.

Booth's agreement with Amazon Fresh will mean that its range of ready meals, cheese and deli products will be available in the 302 postcodes across London, Surrey, Hampshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire that the online grocer now serves.

Until now Booths has only catered to southern shoppers with its Christmas hamper deliveries, which are available for four days of the festive season.
