I think you need to keep up fellas, I bought 'Perfectly imperfect' sub-titled 'less than perfect, just as tasty' Braeburn apples from Tesco last week, six for 69p an 800g pack.
I'm sure they've been doing that for some time now, also there's a free portion of fruit shelf for kids shopping with ma.

I think the 'eat five a day-- eat ten a day' is a marketing ploy thought up by the fruit and veg industry's pet scientists.

Discount around 30% and reports say big demand:

"On a même du mal à fournir les rayons! Ce qui démontre la demande du consommateur et motive l'ensemble des acteurs."

That would be a good idea Alphorn, they only sell cheaper over here when past the "use by" date. It is an eye opener as many of us take for granted buying £7 or £8 worth of fresh fruit on a visit to the supermarket, however for those on low wages and or Benefits that would be at the bottom end of their priorities. It makes me laugh when the Government have all those "health awareness tips" but as usual they are so detached from reality that it really is quite frightening.

L - for a while in France the supermarkets have huge quantities of fruit/veg that are the wrong size or shape on sale at a lower price. Taste is of course fine and it saves 100's and 100's tons going to waste. (May even be 1,000's)

Switzerland has also started selling a 'unique' range - same idea.

There's many people in this country can't afford to "Buy British", Similarly there's many who just simply can't afford "5 a day", which is little wonder when a small punnet of berries is £2 - £3. That's a lot of cash for someone clearing under £200 per week.

Supermarkets such as Tesco have a "value range" for a reason and when around 40% of the country is living hand to mouth I really find it amusing reading all these ignorant stories about "buying british", "better quality", etc, etc. For many these luxuries just aren't possible.........

Today's Mail on Sunday had an article about Lidl or Aldi .... not sure which.
Point being that they said that 77% of what they sell is UK sourced as opposed to 25% or so 10 years ago
Something like that

Porty won't shop in Tesco now:

"Tesco is now using (sugar) suppliers who import stock from as far as 5,000 miles away in countries such as Belize rather than using bags made from British beet".

Bad publicity.

I AM WITH BG FOR GAS ELEC , BP FOR PETROL ALL BRITISH COMPANIES

So your definition of buying british is that the company you buy from has 'British' in the title, and it matters not where the stuff they sell comes from.

The largest owner of BP is American. And it sells you oil from Saudi.

Part of your electricity comes under the channel from France (basically from a French Nuke on the coast nearest england).

It doesn't matter if you type in captials, or put 'fact' after one of your unfactual statements, you'll still find it difficult or impossible to solely 'buy british'.

You really haven't got a clue porty`, we would all starve to death if we stopped importing food.

We only survived WW2 because brave sea men risked their lives to ship in food from around the world and at that time there were nigh on forty million less people in the population to cater for.
