which global wants to own it now ?

What am I bid ?"

Whoever owns it could initiate their own pricing structure.

at the end.... Azure Device Provisioning Service (DPS), it says...

hang on a minute ..... DPS, that rings a bell ....

Webinar with Microsoft
24.2.21
Some notes (Part 1):

Jon (Microsoft = MS), James (DA)

Jon: highlights the breach at NASA
The hacker stole 500MB of data. Conclusion: lack of an IoT lifecycle.
The importance of the IoT security lifecycle, threat mitigation, rotate keys,
update mechanisms.
Jon highlights clients such as NXP, STI: the secure silicon providers
Renewable security (top of slide) includes the DA icon: OS- and hardware-agnostic.
Keyscaler (KS): for device management, IoT hub security and the DPS (Device Provisioning Service).

Takeway: at the last MS/DA webinar in Oct 2020, no mention of DPS at MS.
My take, this is a new service, at scale (made possible by KS).

“Secure, zero-touch onboarding of IoT devices to the cloud is an important solution that realizes immediate value through its security and efficiency said Lancen LaChance, VP of IoT with GlobalSign. It’s a solid blueprint that benefits the broader IoT industry by providing a proven, best practice solution to a common IoT device identity management challenge. Our collaboration with notable experts Infineon, Eurotech, and Microsoft has enabled the entire IoT industry to take one secure leap forward.”

The solution is being launched at Hannover Messe 2021 and will be available in Q4 in 2021

snippet:

Eurotech has worked with GlobalSign, one of the leading security certificate authorities, and Microsoft, with its IoT Identity Service security subsystem of the Azure IoT Edge, to further extend the chain-of-trust to cloud connectivity. This is achieved through the enrollment of additional local certificates confirming device ownership to a customer and using these identities for automatic provisioning of Azure IoT Hub operational identities by the Azure Device Provisioning service.

If we hit 14p and hold, the next increase could be quite spectacular and the Investors Chronicle forecast of 22p could be reached well before the year end.

andrbea, I am with you on this DA exit valuation price. At that price Microsoft would get a wonderful bargain and it seems an entirely reasonable figure. With all the partnerships, ecosystem and sheer quality of interest in KeyScaler, plus the fact that we appear to be THE key solution, it would be a great bargain for them. The $3.5bn works out at £3.66 per share, assuming 50% interest (I know we have more), the 25% b shares, 0.79 GBP = 1 USD and before 40% special dividend and 10% bod cut. Given the price that "old hat" security has gone for, I suspect you are about right in your ball-park valuation. It is most certainly not a "ramp" figure by any means.

If Microsoft earns $9bn/quarter in IoT then my ball-park exit valuation of $3.5bn for DA is a drop in the ocean for MS, who earn it back in the next quarter.
And, for that one-off investment, they get lifetime cycle management of IoT devices at scale, plus legacy devices. So a measly quarter gets you the future and the past .....

Dream too of being in Tier 7 (with AWS as a partner of Multos)

'A Multos product was the first to be approved to the TOP tier 7 level.' (see below)

Multos has been trading for about 20 years. It has 3500+ businesses, with 1 bn devices in its charge, spread over 50 countries. Multos for security policing and flexibility.

Chris (Multos): Trust Core kit (new product). A plug and play board. It can work with AWS IoT (via PCKS#11). It is for non-programming customers, an off-the-peg version. A hardware security module, with encryption. It has tools for managing both public and private keys.
Ready-made functionality. TLS/DtLS 1.2 support. The session key never leaves the Multos chip.
RSA key pairs can authenticate with AWS IoT services. Able to integrate with other IoT platforms.

Rao (DA) speaking:
Keyscaler (KS) can facilitate secure device updates. Interfaces with CumuloCity/HID-Identrust/Thales/MS Azure/nCipher/DigiCert/AWS/Thingworx
Iniside the KS platform, the DA engine. Customers can use APIs to interface with KS's function blocks, eg policy management.
KS is highly scalable. Device-bound identity/authentication.

Code signing and device updates.

KS is the first Device identity-centric IAM to address the unique IoT security challenges. DA: our main partners at Microsoft Azure ....

Part 2:
(KeyScaler continued)

certificate provisioning - any CA, any HSM, any platform

'CA signing service connector'
'IoT platform service connector'

Device-bound, policy-driven key provisioning and rotation.

Delegated security management for IoT platforms. (Token authentication)

Authorize request for token / Authenticate device and request token / Device Agent /Authenticate and connect / Validate token (Thingworx and/or Azure) /

The device is secured and updated in time.

the customer can outsource security management to KS.

then send encrypted data from IoT devices to the chosen IoT application platform (eg Thingworx)

Policy-driven crypto key provisioning & management.
Authenticate Thingworx

Secure-by-design approach for chip to cloud security for IoT (DA and the Multos secure chip platform)

Automate secure registration /onboarding of devices without human intervention

Automate security into IoT platforms with connectors

Quarantine devices when necessary

revoking their credentials

Multos can generate the API calls/messages and handles the replies.

Q&A

31bn devices connected so far (in 2020)

That figure includes smartphones.

KS can interact with various kinds of endpoints (software and/or hardware)

Multos: Trust Core can be ordered already.

As to the quality of Multos products:

Most of our competitors are in tiers 4 to 6.
A Multos product was the first to be approved to the TOP tier 7 level.

So Multos chipset has been independently verified as the most secure chipset out there. I imagine they are utilised in the most critical end uses ie Medical, Automotive and Industrial.

So the message is quite clear that there isn't much point in paying for an expensive and secure chipset unless you are going to manage the lifecycle of that device. Step up Keyscaler.

So we've had webinars with chipset manufacturers, device manufacturers, certificate authorities, HSM manufacturers, IoT platforms, Systems Integrators etc. Keyscaler is a hugely important component in the IoT ecosystem.

This has to be a target for a major security provider such as Thales, Identrust or Entrust. Quite possible that Microsoft would see it as giving them competitive advantage over AWS but I think it is possibly more likely that one of the large systems integrators would compete with a security provider. Regardless Tern have a very valuable asset in their portfolio.
