I think the important thing to remember is that the "valuation" of the companies TEK hold is always backward looking and hense seriously out of date when we have so much going on

buywell is pleased to see Lucyd are developing different Lyte 'brands'

The Titanium brand in particular looks and sounds classy

Take a look at these

If you did not know otherwise you would think these were ordinary glasses not smart glasses

great job to get all the Tech hidden so well, great name too 'Antimatter'

Currently TEK is valued at circa 20% below an ever increasing net asset value. If it were to be valued taking account of only 10% of enterprise value I suspect we would be more than double the current share price. Upside for all 4 of the companies they hold is huge let alone what is still to come from what we don't yet know about.

Ref the above

Obesity is now linked to salt/sodium consumption

See buywells previous posts on this with links to various studies

Obesity is also linked to poor outcomes with Covid-19

We all know that salt/sodium intake is linked to High Blood Pressure and associated problems like strokes and heart attacks

48% of American adults suffer from High Blood Pressure

Guess what

Over 44% of American adults are obese

But it still seems that this has been missed by the FDA the CDC and other world health authorities

The root cause of most health issues is that salt/sodium has been the major contributor to the obesity epidemic which has now spread worldwide and continues to do so

This is now a GIVEN --- salt intake is associated with Obesity

Obesity is now not only causing HBP and poor Covid-19 outcomes but is also linked to various cancers and diabetes

-----------------------------------------

Excess Salt/Sodium daily intake is thus a major factor in rising Healthcare costs which now threaten the economies of the world

The World Health Organization WHO has this to say

Yet we still eat too much of it

Because we like the taste and other reasons ---- salt can be addictive

So from a health a welfare and an economic prospective any product that can cut sodium intake by 50% or better still 80% yet still maintains the flavor our taste buds crave looks set to become the solution of so many health problems now besetting us all

Plus the spiraling healthcare long term costs that go along with excess salt/sodium consumption

Whoever produces such a product and has the IP to such technology must surely be on a winner imo with the majority of the population of planet Earth to become obese and suffer from HBP within the next 3 years

Maybe

But something tells buywell that w-----t is going to see how sales go of SaltMe chips
in various stores within the 800 that are included in the deal

Then , if feedback is good and SaltMe nuts hit the market before this Xmas

w-----t might make a move to acquire the Microsalt technology --- don't forget a 80% less sodium product is also in development ( even smaller sized salt particles )

w-----t have the $ to apply the Microsalt technology across a whole range of 'low sodium' snack products using the SaltMe brand to do so --- in the new blue packaging deonoting 'low sodium' --- buywell wonders who picked that color ?

Other bigger snack food manufacturers should be worried imo

Simon T in I/C...

...Tek also holds a 97 per cent stake, worth US$3.6m, in Salarius, a food technology business that owns a patented process to produce nanoparticle sized salt, Microsalt®, a new all natural, non-GMO, Kosher, low-sodium salt. These small crystals dissolve faster on the tongue, so you need to use less salt, thus providing "better for you" products that taste good and reduce sodium intake.

Salarius’ approach is to target food manufacturers, snack food companies, and the retail market. Sales are gaining traction as the company has just signed up one of the largest supermarket chains in North America to roll out its own snack food brand SaltMe! across 800 stores in 2022. Expect other retailers to follow suit, and e-commerce sales to benefit from greater brand awareness.

In addition, Tek’s pre-IPO holding of 17.1m shares in recently floated Belluscura (BELL: 92p), an Aim-traded company that is developing and commercialising IP in the medical devices space, is now worth £15.7m. That’s 67 per cent higher than the carrying value in Tek’s end May 2021 NAV of $51.1m. Factor in the uplift from Innovative Eyecare, and Tek’s pro-forma NAV is heading towards $67.5m (38p). Buy.

Nice piece in tomorrow's Investors Chronicle, ST see's upside to his 35p target. Increased interest in Micosalt alone could see TEK hit 50p by Christmas IMHO. But DYOR.

The only thing buywell is not happy with is the discrepancy between what MicroSalt themselves say about the extent of the High Blood Pressure ( Hypertension ) health problem and what w-----t are now saying

First w-----t say :

48% of american adults have high blood pressure and consume on average 50% more sodium daily than the recommended amount set by the national academy of sciences

Second MicroSalt say :

1 in 3 US adults (70M) have high blood pressure and in the U.K., I in 4 adults have high blood pressure.

--------------------------------------------------

This is a BIG discrepancy

w-----t at 48% and MicroSalt at 33%

In other words the w-----t number is close to 50% higher than MicroSalt

--------------------------------------------------

buywell hopes the MicroSalt website is updated so that it falls in line with what w-----t are putting out --- the disparity is not a good look

This is not the first time that buywell has beefed about this 'underselling' of ourselves due to a lower percentage of USA adult cases

It is most probably because old data pre 2018 is being used

In 2017 the American Heart Association AHA lowered the definition of HBP /Hypertension

w-----t have imo used this for their higher figure of 48%

Using this new percentage of course makes the case for MicroSalt use even stronger to support the FDA new sodium lowering guidelines

Note in the CDC link they said

Nearly half of adults in the United States (47%, or 116 million) have hypertension, defined as a systolic blood pressure greater than 130 mmHg

The above was based upon 2019 data ---- things are now worse hence w-----t 48% updated figure

BoD can you please rectify the website error ( second time of asking )

imo dyor

The CEO of MicroSalt is attending an event run by Procter and Gamble

Hugo has sent an email to all investors that took part in the recent MicroSalt crowdfunding saying

" Procter and Gamble have selected us as one of the Top 4 global startups led by former P&G alumni and we will be featured at the Procter & Gamble Global Conference on November 12 & 13th 2021

buywell points out that a former Procter and Gamble high profile manager is now working for MicroSalt

Oh look --- it is the CEO

Victor Hugo Manzanilla

CEO

Former Fortune 500 marketing executive at Office Depot and Procter and Gamble

With over 15 years of experience in developing and managing multimillion dollar brands and leading high performance teams.

He earned the Credential of Readiness in Business Analytics, Economics and Financial Accounting at Harvard University.

-------------------------------------------------

buywell wonders what chance that P & G might now decide to use MicroSalt following it's adoption by w-----t ?

It is almost a given that they have taken a look --- perhaps the latest FDA stance and guidance will be the catalyst to prod them into action

look back at a post where buywell listed the top 21 P & G Pringle flavor reviews

Their own low sodium original brand came in last

Whilst their Original Brand flavor came in first

The risk for retail investors with TEK is a take over at this stage.

There will be many taking an interest.

While shareholders could end up with a offer of 55p/60p for a takeover this year; TEK and it’s sell offs could conceivably be big companies in their own right worth many multiples of TEKs current value.

Still looks cheap at 32p

This was up at this share price of around 32p twice in September. It was then hit by a tech sell off, as were a lot of companies. That drop was larger than most because there has been a constant 100k/50k seller. That selling dropped off yesterday and happened to coincide with the FDA low salt news. A few days back this was tipped again by ST in IC who currently values TEK at 38p. No wonder it has come back up to around 32p.

That TEK RNS at 7 am today would also have put many more potential buyers of TEK shares in the picture. Those of us keeping an eye on the TEK bulletin boards of course knew yesterday of the FDA salt advice.
