Indeed disney. I have advised people to take advantage of these rates while they last - the £5,000 dividend exemption didn't last long.

LOL.

The following Capital Gains Tax rates apply: 18% and 28% tax rates for individuals (the tax rate you use depends on the total amount of your taxable income, so you need to work this out first) 28% for trustees or for personal representatives of someone who has died. 10% for gains qualifying for Entrepreneurs' Relief.

Graham, correct it is 20% CGT on gains from shares, after taking off dealing cost, stamp duty and annual CGT allowance. What’s left is taxed at 20 %. This as low as I remember it being, if you disregard the old indexing method.

"Or if a significant amount of what you're selling is in a Share dealing ISA :))"

Or 'all' of what you're selling is in a Share dealing ISA :))

28% is residential property, I think. Everything else is 20%. Not that it matters if you're not planning to sell!

I did well out of these following the Brexit vote when the frightened rabbits dumped everything. There's a good prospect of another good gain from these levels, but the very lopsided nature of the dividends makes the timing difficult. I can't see any tearing hurry to buy.

Yes 28% that's still a lot. I haven't sold any shares/property for 15 years so bit out of touch with that.

Now go and google what the true answer is, you little financial whizz.

Probably best you concentrate on selling "nuts and bolts" while you can.

Why don't you find something useful to do rather than trolling this thread
I don't care what anyone posts if there is some logic behind it. Merely repeating an opinion in capital letters and full of exclamation marks several times a day adds nothing and just makes you look like a prize front bottom.

When that is added to I don't care because I bought for nothing 10 years ago and I will hold forever all we have is a thread with no information or logical discussion.

It is all very boring
