01/3/2018 16:13 | Hold onto Taylor Wimpey for profit growth - Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey (TW) has delivered in-line full-year results and Peel Hunt is predicting further profit growth this year. Analyst Gavin Jago retained his ‘hold’ recommendation and target price of 210p after the group posted an 11% increase in profit before tax to £812 million. The shares were down 4% at 186p yesterday. ‘The forward order book is in line with the prior year at £2 billion and the group is currently 47% forward sold for full-year 2018,’ he said. ‘The dividend yield is 8%. No change is forecast at this stage and we leave our recommendation as a “hold”.& | speedsgh

28/2/2018 10:32 | Take your pick..... Taylor Wimpey said it made a good start to 2018 as the housebuilder reported a rise of more than 10% in underlying annual profit. Pre-tax profit before exceptional items for the year to the end of December rose 10.7% to £812m, driven by improved performance in the UK and at the company’s Spanish business. Total pre-tax profit fell 5.8% to £555.3m due to an exceptional charge resulting from a leasehold review. Revenue in 2017 rose 7.9% as demand for houses remained strong and UK average selling prices rose 3.5%, the company said. About 43% of total sales used the government’s Help to Buy scheme, which lends money to buyers. | smartypants
28/2/2018 10:13 | A lot of assumptions that these are the good times for the housing Market and therefore we are about to call time on a profitable period led by London centric thinking. The Market was demanding something spectacular. Actually in terms of volumes the Market has never been tougher, provincially the house price index is more or less where it was in 2007. No reason to think conditions will get that much tougher, the Capital aside. | stewart64
28/2/2018 09:55 | todays numbers in line with what everyone was expecting, maybe a couple per cent low on eps but hardly meaningful. Forward sales a bit lower which might spook some, but really small margins here so hard to see this drop justified | solooiler
28/2/2018 09:52 | Bought some more at 181.7..hopefully a good move. | trbcjb
28/2/2018 09:48 | Yes but this was flagged. " Adjusted operating profit* in 2017 was GBP841.2 million and is up 10.1%, driven by improved performance in both the UK and the Spanish businesses. Profit for the year at GBP555.3 million is down 5.8% with the improved underlying performance offset by the net exceptional charge of GBP105.0 million in relation to the leasehold provision recognised in the period." | a0148009
28/2/2018 09:35 | "Taylor Wimpey was in the red as it posted a drop in full-year pre-tax profit, while engineer Weir slipped even as it reported a 47% rise in full-year pre-tax profits." | smartypants
28/2/2018 09:30 | I missed 181 but got some at a fraction over 182 | gbh2
