06/6/2018 00:01 | Mexican peso extends drop on Nafta fears ...The Mexican peso extended its decline on Tuesday, briefly hitting a 15-month low, as hopes dimmed over the prospects for a new North American Free Trade Agreement following a sharp escalation in the tit-for-tat trade war between the US and Mexico. | philanderer

04/6/2018 09:31 | There was a time when a decision by a US President was an important and firm decision that the market had to take in consideration and not likely to change. Now it is hard to believe that the policy might not be changed tomorrow ; hard to plan around that! | wad collector
01/6/2018 23:41 | You just don't know what this fella is going to come out next with ;-) 'Donald Trump hints at axing NAFTA to create separate trade deals with Canada, Mexico' 'Nafta Haggling Could Slide Into 2019 After Metals Tariffs' ++ People familiar say recent high-level push for deal has ended ++ Window to pass deal in this Congress has closed, lawyer says The window for a quick Nafta deal has probably closed and, barring a last-minute surprise, the process is set to stretch into 2019 and a new batch of lawmakers. Recent high-level talks between the U.S., Canada and Mexico came up short in a bid to reach a deal that could pass Congress this year. Then came Thursday’s tariff announcement and war of words between the countries, particularly President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. While Nafta negotiations will continue, the urgency looks to be gone. | philanderer

24/5/2018 16:52 | Hi Phil, yes, and the last development I want to see is a large highly priced acquisition, Hampton strikes me as cautious, and like that. Pension deficit about cleared, which has got little comment. Also the £100 Million efficiency drive has gone a little under the radar. As per ususl with TATE, reasons to be cheerful, some reasons for caution. Nice dividend payer, falling debt, and the payout looks secure, at least for the foreseeable. A Trump tantrum on NAFTA may provide another buying opportunity. | essentialinvestor
24/5/2018 16:41 | My wife was on the train by 7am as well , I never heard the alarm :-) ---------- FT: Alicia Forry, analyst at Investec, said in a note that Tate & Lyle was over-reliant on the US market, which accounts for 75 per cent of sales. “We would like to see M&A accelerate,” she said but noted that Mr Hampton had committed himself to a long-term net debt/ebitda ratio of 1-2 times, “which will somewhat constrain the type of deals the company will be able to execute”. ....So good to see Nick Hampton says he will be concentrating on expansion into emerging markets. | philanderer
