10/4/2018 18:45 | Hi Phil, my bet was always it would be renegioted. I still may be wrong, however it would hit hard some of the GOP base and Trump supporters if a deal could not be reached. This is the President who 'wrote' The Art of the Deal, a failure on NAFTA would be a major embarrassment for him- before you get to the issue of whether Trump has the constitutional power to dissolve a trade agreemen ratified by Congress. There would be an avalanche of legal challenges, surely. | essentialinvestor

27/3/2018 17:51 | This geezer Ahmed just a moron, he has left the company where he started, nowhere further basically, juggled the balls a bit, should have left a year ago, hje’s Done an appalling job for shareholder value, give or take a few dividends! | bookbroker

15/3/2018 13:45 | I agree with what you say on the debt particularly, there are too many companies to choose from with very levels of debt, irrespective of their ability to service it, I prefer to look at companies with balance sheets in good order, that is not recognised by the market in general! With the economic cycle late in age, that will change! | bookbroker
15/3/2018 13:16 | While we don't know what type of CEO he will make, he is a very astute CFO. and his background is in this industry. Keep in mind he oversaw much of the restructuring following multiple profit warnings. At a guess, we may see the acceleration of specialist ingredients with an increasing focus on APAC growth opportunities. TATE entered 2008 with nearly £1.1 billion in debt, so whatever you think of Mr Ahmed, he tidied up the balance sheet. It remains to be seen how successful recent investments will be, hopefully a multi year payback, and worst case some extra costs can be removed if necessary. | essentialinvestor
15/3/2018 10:00 | I look at the new guy as a fresh mindset, despite him being an internal candidate, but I look at the statement and although it was mentioned that they are suggesting that profit growth will be lower as a result of restructuring the company for the future, I still see that as positive. I think the clarification on NAFTA will be positive, when it emerges, although the issue of tariffs on corn syrup in Mexico may be negative. But I want to believe that this company still remains a takeover target on the basis of its position in food ingredients, it is most probably reasonably good value at this level irrespective, and if there is a market downturn the nature of its business does provide some insulation, and a fair yield to boot. | bookbroker
15/3/2018 09:50 | They can have mine for £8.40, I might even be negotiable on that ). Brookboker, re the CEO, had you not reached your conclusion before buying. | essentialinvestor
15/3/2018 09:30 | I would like to see another analyst recommendation, Liberum take a lot of dissuading, still maybe they believe in the valuation, I’m not going to argue! | bookbroker
15/3/2018 09:20 | Still banging it out ;-) Liberum 'buy' tp 850p | philanderer
14/3/2018 08:15 | Ahmed seems to feel he has done a good job, I hope that we will not start the new tenure of Hampton with a negative trading statement in order to provide him with a clean slate, Ahmed has not done a good job, he leaves this company where he started, shareholders may like the dividend attributes but it is the valuation that is more important to me personally, actual growing the company, the only thing he has achieved is to leave the balance sheet in decent order, more than can be said for a number of companies! | bookbroker
13/3/2018 16:01 | There's Cargill for one, largest privately held company in the US. However a bid is only an outside possibility, rather than a solid reason to hold. | essentialinvestor
13/3/2018 15:31 | Food companies, or in this case nutrition, are supposed to be boring, but this one gyrates like a tech company! | bookbroker
13/3/2018 15:26 | No, it friggin is’nt, a bid is likely here at some point, soon, this company would be better as part of a larger entity, a case of whom, not too many choices, how about Chinese!!!! | bookbroker
13/3/2018 15:17 | May be foolish but I've added. Brookboker, it's not you selling that's driving down the price is it ; | essentialinvestor
13/3/2018 13:57 | To be followed McMaster, Mattis, etc! Soon he will run out of picks! | bookbroker
