I've been waiting a long time for a price setback, but it finally came and I resumed my buying yesterday. Need to find something else to sell to buy one or two more lots so this gets up to my preferred holding level, then just leave to mature for several years. Seems to work for me. I like buying just in advance of xd date, the price drop going xd is often recovered the next day in these high yielders.

Relatively new to the share business, but TATE has been working out for me, offloaded what I had with 23% rise, just got back in at 674, now repeat please!

The Times said buy last week at 778p. If you were lucky enough to ignore that recommendation last week it should be even more of a buy this week at a pound less. A week is a very long time in the stock market!

Sold today, also had a small SB prior to the results which also worked out. Maybe I could have held on for a while, but with several other stocks not working out so great it was nice to lock in at least a bit of profit.

As a long term follower and occasional investor I'd say Tate doesn't go for setbacks. Instead, every now and again it falls right off a cliff!

Seems to be doing great since the Libertun kiss of death.

Buy quality companies when they're down and you can't go wrong long term.

Having said that, tate has had a few bits of good luck - suger being seen as more deadly than before (should switch some consumption out of sugar into tate's artificial sweetners, ditto fizzy sugared drinks, dollar earners going up, move to divi stocks, still on 3.6% divi which isn't shabby for a recovering world leading company.

The annoying thing for me is i just got two tranches before this took off and hasn't really had a setback since (which is when i try to buy further lots), so although it's a great performer, it's not at my usual level of holding. So maybe a mini party is in order.

Liberum Capital today reaffirms its buy investment rating on Tate & Lyle PLC (LON:TATE) and raised its price target to 795p (from 790p).

Not the highest increased target price ever, but at least it's in the right direction.

+50% + a divi in 15 months in a big share like this. Wish i could do it more often.

Well done taters.

The price ran away from me while building up a sizeable position here. Still, just have to settle with a lower than average amount for the time being.

Only 2% of income comes from the UK. That ought to be in their favour.

Today's trading statement says strong start to year at constant currency rates.

With most earnings in dollars, in £ terms the profits look much higher imo.

price 690 odd and i'm thinking of buying more

I'm still buying at these levels or thereabouts... just waiting for a down market day to squeeze the last 10/20/30p. But solid world leadinging companies like this can recover their former glory with price rises over several years after being trashed... look at bt, for example. And while they do you pocket a decent divi every few months.

So glad i read 'investment for beginners' by jim slater all those years ago.
