29p is my guess. which although is robbing us shareholders, is better then waiting any longer.

Well done the Board.
One company gone.
Now they can concentrate on doing the same to Snorkel while taking a nice fat pay cheque home each month.

Smith's stake officially (as near as certain) worthless.

Already written down to zero and market expectations managed to zero so should not have any effect the share price But it probably will fall a bit.

I believe that the shareholders that have stayed around will be in for a treat in 2017.
Everything is lining up imo.

The Board has recently been reminded of the express intention of the 51% shareholder in Snorkel to acquire the 49% owned by Tanfield at some point in the future. The Board, however, recognises that Snorkel needs to further develop the business and welcome the focus on profitability as opposed to top line growth. The Board is of the opinion that as progress continues to be made, albeit in a very competitive environment, and if the business is successful in achieving improved profit margins, it should be well placed to benefit from further expansion in the AWP market in 2017 and beyond. The Board therefore still retains its view that the investment in Snorkel will result in a return to shareholders in the future.

Good paragraph from RNS, April last year which gives us hope!

The recent bidding war for Lavendon might play a role here. I guess the value of Aherns business have risen significantly recently as well, and thus the likelihood of a bid for the rest of Snorkel must be higher as well.

can someone explain how the 49 percent figure is worked out in value,

does someone have to come in and value the snorkel, or is there an agreed figure already, and can snorkel be sold to a third party at any time,

Snorkel Extreme of Las Vegas

The second seminar session featured speaker Gary Stansberry, who shared his insights on “Key Performance Measures for Your Rental Business." Gary identified four key performance measures for your rental business, discussed industry standards and revealed how to track each measure using a simple set of reports that can be generated on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Gary has over 20 years of mergers and acquisitions experience, totaling over $1 billion in value.

Attendees also had the opportunity to take part in an aerial work platform operators training certification class cosponsored by the Scaffold and Access Industry Association (SAIA) and Snorkel Extreme of Las Vegas. The all-day class, in which attendees could be certified to operate high-reach equipment, took place at an Ahern Rentals facility in Las Vegas.
