Management doing nothing for this share as usual. Using shareholders money to buy back shares so they can improve the eps, which forms the basis for setting their own remuneration, and thereby allow them to award themselves pay increases through a perceived increase in eps, is imo underhanded. The argument is that it creates shareholder value but all it does is fill up their already bulging wage packet. We are being treated as mugs. No wonder AB sold out. I think he mentioned management were not pleased at the increase in share price due to his buying of the shares. I can see why now. It was messing up the management's buy back and limiting the ability to improve the eps and as such negating how much they can award themselves...greedy sharks. Have they not heard of reinvesting the money in the business and increasing the eps through improved performance by actual increases in sales and profit. I guess that's all too hard for them.

Hopefully a good read through from the Halfords trading update today... Quarter 4 Highlights Halfords Retail -- Cycle sales return to growth with 8.7% LfL -- Online sales up by 52% reaching 9.3% of Retail sales -- Car Maintenance decline against tough 2010 Winter comparatives I think we supply some of the childrens stuff at Halfords plus the mild weather should help early season sales at the independents too. Results only a few weeks away so we should get a reasonable update on outlook for this year. Just hope there are some new forecasts arranged to follow the results. I will try to arrange another presentation in London. Just a shame the last one was on the day of the transport strike.

With the buy in of 821,000 and this lady's 383,000 we are not far shy of the whole of Andrew's holding. I might assume he would retain a few just for fun, and that should be the overhang gone ? but still 25000 on offer at 121.5p. We need that to be cleared before this goes anywhere........

The results should be late April/early May so I will arrange another results presentation with the directors if we have say ten shareholders interested in meeting up post results just as we had last year in London.

Castleford Tiger....Blimey 4% already. Are you aiming to be the next AB ? Just click on the website I gave the link to this afternoon and add your holding and any comments if you wish. Any other new holders may also do the same.

i WOULD like to add mine along with a family member we are close to 4% now. I have refused some today but will be buying more if i can get the price i ask. I had a breif e mail with Andrew and i had pledged my support. To be fair to him i am not posting his content but i have read that he was looking to the BOD to buy his stake. He may have signed a CC and as such will not comment. The shares are too cheap at this price and that has to be a reason to buy. tiger

neverforget.....So just to get things straight. You are not on the list and will be selling !! You claim large holders are selling but have no proof !! Why not get a copy of the register yourself ? You will need to get it on a regular basis though to have any useful data. For example Peter Gyllenhammer is now a shareholder just out of interest. It is Public information but I do not think suggesting you know exactly what AB had as his intention or reason for selling by posting here is quite fair or even accurate. AB may eventually let us know himself of course. Meanwhile Tandem goes on.

neverforget....I have never heard that from AB although I do know he checked the shareholder register but it is impossible to know the fine detail as so many hold shares and include family members accounts that have different surnames due to marriage/divorce etc. There will also be some with CFDs etc. Anyway here is our last detailed shareholding poll http://www.freesharedata.com/tandem My personal shareholding has remained intact but not yet notifiable. I will probably keep it at the 2% level as I have protection built into my portfolio whereby no holding should be greater than 8% of the total fund that it is in. Maybe it would be worth doing a new holdings list or at least any who previously did not take part could add their holdings now.

The 36000 and 20000 that have gone through today are presumably Stephen and Jim's purchases at 140p. Why only gone through the market today ??

I agree with David. The Company has had to have a major period of self examination. New non-execs, better communications, more awareness ( though not yet deliery) of the need to perform. The challenge for them is now to prove Andrew wrong. They must produce good results, talk to shareholders, promote themselves better. And get the share price back above 140p. If they can sustain a valuation above the levels where Andrew threw his toys out of the pram, then they will have served all shareholders well.

Daviddosh I know one of the things that really annoyed Andrew was that despite people demanding change and being so verbal about self seving management as soon as the share price started to rise they cashed in and jumped ship which rather made it look like they were only after serving themselves. Also he had a detailed copy of the shareholder register which brokebdown the nominee accounts so he could verify the people who had just under 3%an guess what , they didn't. What is good is that directorsvhave a greater interest so their interestsvare more aligned with ours although I don't know whether I will stay here or cash in and move on.

We have three new board members since AB came to the table We have a company improving communication We have a proper remuneration committee set up with two new non execs on board We have just had a very promising update IMO and the Olympics are coming to town. Admittedly... We do not have a significant shareholder now We do not have a steady buyer in the market. But... The rating is very low and personally I think the new management know what has to be done and they have my vote until proven otherwise. The company is in a sound financial position and new shareholders will come on board if the communication continues to improve and the past history is exactly that. A number of us have stakes exceeeding 2% and we are in contact so the situation is not that different. We also know that a large number of eyes will have been looking at Tandem and although I prefer to prove that we can grow the bottom line significantly and pay a healthy dividend those buybacks have slimmed the company but the profits remain the same. Those shares should now be cancelled to drammatically improve the eps and remember any potential buyer now has 15% less mouths to feed so can afford to pay that much more to each of us should the need arise or the deal suit. The future share price will be determined by performance and the directors buying makes them aligned with shareholders.

So what happens now? Obviously the company was confident enough to use it's cash resources to buy up Andrews shares but why? With around 4.7m shares in issue, what is the point of being listed. Any volatility either way will result in massive fluctuations in price. I understand that Andrew is not talking about this to anyone I don't know whether it is becausebhe can't or whether he had had enough. I still hold and will continue to do so. Have no idea wherevthe missing shares went

Another co I've never trusted. at a guess, looking at the trades 1,255,798 were sold to the co @ 131p. They then sold 56K to the directors @ 140p and then dumped 300K in the market @ 110p. Can't imagine that's using shareholder funds in the best interest of shareholders imo. Got to say Davidosh you don't half pick em. Castleford/Snowman - still talking to yourself I see lol. CR

I think the company had enough cash. i think the 330k were sold to the Market at the 110p. I have been buying (today at 1.27) The main thing is that EPS should jump 15% or about 3p a share. Company assets after the deal are higher than market value. Once settled it looks too cheap if we can get the BOD to get their act going tiger

I have looked at yesterday's three RNS's that said: 1) Andrew has sold 2) Tandem bought for Treasury 821,500 shares at 140p 3) 2 executive directors bought 56,000 shares at 140p. I have tried to match up this information to the main trades announced to the LSE yesterday as follows: No of % on old % on new Price Value shares float float share p £000 Andrew Burgess last holding per RNS holding on 4/1/11 1,232,175 22.2 Trade listed per 14/2/11 - sale by Andrew Burgess 1,255,798 22.6 26.5% 131 1645 Tandem bought own shares into Treasury per RNS 14/2/11 821,500 17.4% 140 1150 2 directors buy per RNS 14/2/11 56,000 1.2% 140 78 Trade listed per 14/2/11 330,000 7.0% 110 363 Trade listed per 14/2/11 20,000 0.4% 115 23 Trade listed per 14/2/11 25,700 0.5% 120 31 Balance 2,598 0 It looks as though Andrew sold out at 131p/share. Why did Tandem and directors pay 140p/share when Andrew looks to have received only 131p? Presumably Tandem has borrowed to pay the £1.15m. 330,000 shares were sold at 110p/share which is around 7% of the reduced number of issued shares that are not in Treasury. Does this holding need to be disclosed? Quite a few questions look to arise!!
