For observers of DIRECTOR BUYING as a strong indicator, take note.

This is the third time in less than three weeks that Founding Executive Chairman, Sir Charles Dunstone, has been buying in good size.

1. RNS 12/12 - Dunstone BUYS 313,322 shares at 116.70p
2. RNS 27/11 - Dunstone BUYS 307,085 shares at 118.21p
3. RNS 26/11 - Dunstone BUYS 379,593 shares at 117.35.

In figures, Sir Charles has bought exactly 1,000,000 shares at a cost of circa £1,170,000.

This is on top of his sizeable participation in the February Placing earlier this year where he bought 32.7million shares at a price of 107p being some £35million.

You can't argue with his financial commitment to TalkTalk.

Director Buying can be a strong indicator.

Excellent lengthy feature by Telecoms Correspondent, Nic Fildes, in yesterday's 26/11 FT headed "Race begins to back latest fibre ventures".

Page 21.

Discusses massive scramble by institutional investors to invest in the sector with " a huge pool of money -hundreds of billions of dollars looking for a home" in the altnet/full-fibre race.

Commenting on the recent aborted discussions between InfraCapital and TalkTalk, the FT article writes

" Charles Dunstone, founder of TalkTalk, said those discussions have fallen apart as the value of the broadband company's fibre network in York has risen vastly from the £20m attributed to it in light of the CityFibre and Hyperoptic deals. " I would never knowingly undersell anything", he said. Instead TalkTalk is looking for new backers after receiving numerous approaches ".

"NUMEROUS APPROACHES" - could be good news coming.

And he was buying again yesterday I see. Good to see him fighting the shorters in this way, although I suppose it must mean there are no sale/merger negotiations underway.

Two consecutive days of DIRECTOR BUYING by FOUNDING EXEC CHAIRMAN - Sir Charles Dunstone.

His holding is now a tad under 328 million shares which, at 120p, would value his TalkTalk shareholding at £393 million.

Much skin in the game and fascinating that he has started buying at these historically depressed levels.

For those who follow DIRECTOR BUYING as an important indicator - sit up and take note.

If they brought their call centres back to the UK, there would be less need for redundancies.
One might also be able to understand what they are saying.

The impasse on valuations will unleash TalkTalk and leave them free to follow other more attractive opportunities.

Good spot re that article (which needs to be read in full):

Sounds a bit like a repeat of the collapsed deal between Talk and Daisy. Sir Charles is a hard headed negotiator, who is quite prepared to walk away if the deal ain’t right (not necessarily a bad thing for shareholders).

TalkTalk, the listed telecoms group, and Infracapital, an investment vehicle owned by the insurance giant Prudential, have reached an impasse after months of talks about a new joint venture. Shares will probably crash tomorrow.

Today's Telegraph Questor column:

It is fair to say that TalkTalk Telecom has not been this column’s best idea, since early gains following our tip in February last year have long since been lost to deeper-than-expected dividend cuts and profit warnings.

But BT’s admission last week that it was losing some market share in broadband was intriguing. If TalkTalk’s own interims, due on Nov 21, show that it is winning customers over, the shares could gain some welcome traction. Don’t throw in the towel just yet.

Hold your nerve kiddo. I bought a load between £1.05 to £1.16 but have taken the precaution of adding a stop loss today in case this drops on Monday morning.

Should I stay or should I go now? Not go, but take some profit on the tranche I bought at just above £1. Twice already it's been up here and then collapsed again, but maybe the third time's the charm.

What's driving this morning's rally then? Shorters closing, broker recommendation or another rumour out there? And will it be sustained or will the sellers come out soon?

That's what I'm hoping. But we still need that approach, or a credible rumour of one, to trigger it.
