Shaunstar, Ha ha. I like your thinking and, in general, I think it is a fair point of view. That said, I think it is dangerous to assume directors "know more than we do." They should not do at the point they are buying or selling shares in the market!

I think large buys can be suspicious though, partly because what might be a large buy to me could be very small beer to a wealthy individual and partly because of how the share price is impacted. For instance, I think the relatively recent director buys at Glencore, which led to a fairly substantial rise in its stock price, should be counted as highly dubious. This is still a company that could do bust with further falls in the copper price yet the actions of, among others, Tony Hayward, have given a confidence to small investors that I think simply is not warranted.

FWIW Note I am not saying that the intention was suspicious in this example. Merely that investors should be suspicious, in my view, of following the crowd as it ramps up the share price of a very risky stock just because someone else has been buying. Of course TH wants to make money. Whether he does or not remains to be seen.

Anyway, nice to see further buying here. That might even cheer up Duncan. CHEERS, TM

I am delighted to see Simmonds buy more shares, very positive news IMHO.

Sorry for the cynicism, on the other thread someone said Synety are doing road shows in the City at the moment (I've no way to verify this). That coupled with lots of Director buys makes me suspicious.

Millipede - you talk sense - but you cannot argue large director buys are suspicious. Large buys (and the larger they are the more confidence this implies) tell us the director thinks they will make money from the shares. This is great news as they should know better than anyone!

Agreed- SNTY directors are already large holders so their interests are aligned with shareholders. It's just these tken small purchases that seem odd, or more accurately pointless (i wouldnt buy £15 worth of a company - because it would be pointless comnpared to my normal amounts invested :-p)

Interim results today from IS Solutions where Peter Simmonds is chairman show excellent growth and major management changes. I wonder if he is working in the background on something similar at Synety? IS Solutions share price is up 200% since Simmonds joined the board earlier this year.

Just noticed that Dotdigital have announced that Peter Simmonds has just sold share worth £1m, lets hope he puts some of that profit into Synety!

I agree Millipede and out of all the directors SC has certainly been the most committed to actually purchasing the stock.Let us hope for a prosperous 2016.

Again, I think the buys are generally a good sign.

Their timing in the past has not been good though! I do hope it is better on this occasion and that current trading has given them the confidence to pick up a few more.

Shaunstar, FWIW I think large purchases are, if anything, more suspicious and I have certainly seem AIM share prices change direction and rise quite significantly off the back of them.

That is almost the worst case: a large purchase that moves the market because, whatever the intent, it ends up being market manipulation.

I agree with 140661 entirely. The directors already own a lot of stock which IMO establishes certain credentials and a sense of commitment. Whether they buy more or not is irrelevant but I am quite glad their purchases in the market are not particularly moving the stock price.

In general I think director purchases, if there are any, need to be assessed against other behaviours to build up an overall picture of whether directors of any business can be trusted or not. My view is the signs here are very positive on that score and I write as someone who has sold out of at least one long term holding because of a large director buy that moved the market upwards so significantly that I could no longer trust that the intentions of management were genuine. (Sirius Minerals at the start of 2012. The share price has - almost - never been higher than my sell price since and certainly not for some time.)

Yes I do not disagree Duncan. I have also seen stocks where the directors have been semi bullied into quite large buys by disgruntled shareholders....... and the stock price still slides.

On the whole I am more than happy with the amounts directors here already hold, especially as Simon Cleaver has bought large amounts in the market at market prices, and am happy with that. I really would rather all their focus now was on building the business, not on buying stock.

Board are huge backers of the company with their own money - agreed and very bullish in the LT.

But a 1% purchase is suspicious. It's an amount that makes no real difference to his position, so why bother. The only time we see this happening on AIM is when directors want to show 'faith' by making token immaterial purchases - often after bad results/SP falls.

I'm not saying thats the case here - its just odd.

Like I said 140661, it is better than him selling.

You would have to take it as a good sign, but then again the BOD have bought loads at a lot higher prices and they haven't been the best timed purchases!
