hazl: Well if that's the case then I hope you spread it here, too, nortic. I have been in some of the guild threads and they have their use, but I feel that it doesn't do anything to attract new holders. I do understand the motive though, of shaking off the ignorant posters who attack whenever there's a rise in any stock . Not against premium threads at all.... just feel we ought to keep his one up for any potential new investors!

hazl: He's just a shorter....in my opinion. They rest of us are not so 'short' sighted perhaps. We have a way to really help people both now and in the future, with numerous respiratory conditions. Investors are notoriously impatient but these things need to have their allotted time in a measured way in proven trials. As it happens it is my firm belief that this awful virus has escalated the process for the company,by necessity. So this lone wolf is completely wrong and could have picked a far better one to short,it seems to me. There have been numerous ones falling back today that would have been better shorts in my opinion.

hazl: Purely down to the wider market....many stocks dropping back and the work up to the trials being in a bit of a lull. Those patients are still there inhaling the product and I believe it is helping to save lives! The rewards for investors will be perceived as results come back but also by observation. If it is good, word will get round. I expect the share price might even improve before results if word gets out.

jam62: It is interesting to note that in recent days Polar Capital has added some 3 million shares despite there being no RNS update from the company. However, I take great solace from the news because I doubt very much that Polar Capital would make such a move without reassurance from the company. Although the typical retail investor would not have ready access to directors of the company, an 8%-plus institutional investor of the stature of Polar Capital would have immediate access at will. The corollary being that the recent significant purchases would have almost certainly been provoked/encouraged by very recent dialogue. Just to reassure posters, I repeat once more that I have added Synairgen to my portfolio and merely seek the views of other investors while imparting my own observations. Yes, I am a recent joiner of ADVFN but would point out that historically every member of ADVFN was also an ADVFN virgin in the early days/weeks of their membership.

phileas3: Wetdream, in the analysis of this company it is important to separate technicals from fundamentals. Fundamentally, the company has proven, albeit in a small phase 2 trial that potentially it has an outstanding therapeutic that the whole world is waiting for. However, a phase 3 trial is required to see whether the hugely impressive recent trial results can be replicated to the extent of phase 2, or even come to perhaps 75% of that success. Having to wait a few weeks, maybe to end Feb is not a big ask. In the meantime we will witness many companies making announcements of vaccines, antibody tests and other potential therapeutics. Unfortunately, the more transient investor will interpret such announcements as negative for Synairgen, when in reality the interpretation should conclude that this interferon-based therapeutic will be a much-needed drug for many years to come. The stark reality of the recent Synairgen story is that at the margin the share register is replete with “shorttermism”:- 1) Gamblers who can’t afford to lose. 2) Gamblers who have visions of great wealth and gear-up to the hilt by buying on margin. And when further margin is called do not pay up and are sold out by the margin provider at any cost. 3) Investors who clearly don’t understand the the psychology of investing in AIM securities. 4). Investors who don’t understand the reasoning behind the Lansdown/Licht liquidations. 5) Investors who fail to interpret the 5-figure transactions correctly in that in reality they are matched transactions resulting in shares moving form the transients to much longer term, less volatile holders. According to my calculations approximately 75 million shares have traded in the past month and what we can conclude with certainty, half will be buys and half will be sells. So 37.5 million shares represents about 19% of the shares in issue. Many institutions in the U.K., other parts of Europe and North America have been the buyers. RNS announcements only have to be made when holdings reach 3% or change to a new big figure when above 3%. I have bought a major position in the issued share capital of Synairgen fully recognising the speculative nature of what I have done. I have no problem having to wait a few weeks to see whether this has been astute or otherwise. To put it simply I will either lose circa £100,000 or make 7 to £800,000 or more. Some people seem not to be able to accept the fact that they have not bought into a Blue Chip; it’s a very speculative investment which has been and will continue to be the subject of great volatility. Your observation that many investors will be showing a negative return is fairly obvious to all and sundry.

nasnas1: Just to mention that the next MelloMonday BASH in three days time will feature Synairgen as they have been nominated by the audience for the 30th November show and I think shareholders and potential investors will appreciate the analysis. In the MelloBASH... The analysts, fund manager and well known investors on the panel will give their honest verdicts on whether four/five companies are a Buy Avoid Sell or Hold at this current juncture in the markets. The Mello Monday event starts at 6pm and the BASH is the grand finale to the show at about 8.30pm The full programme is available on the website. Https://melloevents.com/mellomonday-30th-november/ All investors welcome and if you use the code MMTADVFN50 you will get a half price ticket. Great investor content and entertainment. We had nearly 400 investors attend last month so these are very popular.

oilhunter2020: I try to see it w/o any emotion and that is what investors should do and I am pretty sure thats the way the investors did who participated in the recent PP. If I would have been one of those I would have done a very deep dive DD, as they did definitely. And part of this DD was surely the chance of entering the market and it was definitely also clear for them that the interferon solution will have to compete with potential vaccines. Nevertheless they decided to invest 87Mio into SNG. 87 Mio guys. I guess this story is far away from being over!

asteria1: Placing misconceptions.. There seems to be a lot of people believing that the £80M placing was made up exclusively of institutional investors. In fact there are many private investors who participated. The only regulatory requirement to participate in placings is that you must elect to be a "professional" investor which is a fairly low bar for any frequent trader / investor. My broker for example applied for £5M of placing stock and received a 50% allocation i.e. £2.5M and this was all for private investors. The majority of that stock has already been flipped - they were selling relentlessly immediately they had the allocation. Unfortunately this is typical of the "hot" money that often chases stocks like this which makes it a much more volatile ride for the long term investor. Without doubt there will be some institutions in the mix given the size of the placing, but don't be fooled into thinking they won't flip some stock for a quick profit either.
