11/5/2019 18:24 | The majority of the world does not have the infrastructure to collect rubbish in the way that we are accustomed to in the U.K.I believe also true to say that in many, many countries little to no thought is given to merely dropping plastic litter into the open environment, at the time the packaging is opened. It is in these circumstances that SYM's technology offers a fallback position .. surely better to do something 'now' to address this problem and prevent plastic littering indefinitely in the environment before ultimately finding its way into water courses and then the seas.Developing waste collection and recycling infrastructure takes years and years, as does changing the mindset of citizens regarding dropping litter. In the interim, SYM has a technology that works. All that said, go look at grass verges of U.K. motorways .. thick with waste plastic bags. | mattjos

10/5/2019 13:12 | Garth, You are mixing things up. Sym product is NOT compostable (nor claimed to be) and so not suitable for veg waste. It is not designed to be compostable. Sym product is supposed to help with the problem of plastics littering. Bags left out and about 'should' degrade down in time. Nor are SYM products good for Landfill - land fill is designed to be stable and prefers to have stable products in there - so it can be covered and turned back into usable land. The jury is still in debate about whether Sym products can harm recycling of ordinary plastic bags - some say yes, company says no. So far as I can see, here in the UK, little plastic bag waste is recycled anyway and legislation is forcing a huge reduction in the numbers made and used, by way of the plastic bag surcharge of 5p. That might get extended or made even more expensive. So, it remains to be seen if there is any effective market for OXO degradable in the UK. Other territories have different tax and infrastructure situations, which will change the possibilities. | heeley3

10/5/2019 09:55 | Good morning all. In 2008 I started a thread on SYM with the share price at 2.5p I forget when I last sold out but the price has been up and down, plastics have come centre stage and SYM still seem to struggle gaining real traction. Interesting development announced this morning. But can someone please remind me how SYM's product has any advantage over the nice green bags I buy to put my veg waste in that then go into the compost? G. | garth
10/5/2019 09:15 | not only does this re-open the EU market now for SYM but, also helps outside the EU in case there were any 'dithering' buyers scared away by the EU investigation | mattjos

10/5/2019 07:25 | Unusual for chemical regulation in the EU. I doubt it will be the last of it as ECHA do like to recycle issues. I may buy back in to these now though will likely be a tentative foray. | audigger
