From SYM PR: An article by the Chairman of the Oxo-biodegradable Plastics Association explaining why oxo-biodegradable plastic technology can help to save the oceans has been published by Project Syndicate at https://www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/plastic-pollution-oceans-biodegradable-by-michael-stephen-2018-01 With its reach of nearly 500 newspapers in over 150 countries, with a total circulation of nearly 70 million copies, Project Syndicate is the world's largest commentary-focused news syndicate. It features commentaries by global political analysts such as Ian Buruma, Dominique Moisi, Joseph Nye, and Joseph E. Stiglitz, among others, as well as Tony Blair, Ban Ki Moon, Václav Havel, Mikhail Gorbachev and Jimmy Carter. "At a time when understanding global politics and economics is more important than ever, Project Syndicate stands out," said Stiglitz, a Nobel laureate in Economics. "While so many media outlets have become more insular, Project Syndicate features leading thinkers, businesspeople, activists, politicians and policymakers from every part of the world, including Shinzo Abe, Francis Fukuyama, Bill and Melinda Gates, Christine Lagarde, Juan Manuel Santos, George Soros, and many others. Often setting the agenda for other news organizations in the process. For concise, accessible, and trenchant insights into the key issues shaping our future, there simply is nothing else like it." Project Syndicate translates its columns from English into 12 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian.

Thanks for the links hazl From the trading update - strong cash generation - "The Board expect revenues for the year to 31 December 2017 to be approximately £8.2 million (2016: £6.8 million) which is marginally above market expectations. Due to the operational gearing of the Group, the Board expects that profit before tax will be significantly higher than current market expectations, and not less than £400,000 for the full year (2016: £123,000). The Group had net cash in the bank of £621,000 as at 31 December 2017 (31 December 2016: net borrowings of £371,000). Michael Laurier, Chief Executive commented "We are pleased with the continuing progress the Group has made during 2017 where it has achieved growth in profitability and strong cash generation and look forward to 2018 with optimism."

New readers need understand that posters called 'neilrr' & 'robertnash' both have very personal axes to grind against the company & personally against the directors. They have both been continuing detractors for years ... given airtime, they'll both try to persuade you as to why they are so emotionally anchored in a negative sense .. preferring to lose money personally than see the company succeed.I long ago gave up trying to argue the toss with them (at least one of whom is a failed previous employee & both are hopeless investors). For them it's personal & they will reappear as soon as they read this / see a few red days on the stock. But, the company metrics are stunning & readily apparent for even the most financially illiterate and should be borne in mind as/when these two detractors re-surface - they are always invisible when the news is good & the price appreciating.

Buying ... quite common to have to pay up for profitable growing tech companies.Maybe a little early to evaluate just now but, give it a year to 18 months and I suspect will qualify as a nascent Slater Zulu stock.Do we have competitors? YesAre they profitable? Yes, hugely so in several casesIs it I large and growing marketplace? YesThe competition therefore simply reinforces ones view as to the opportunity in the sector. There are plenty of organic & diversified growth opportunities before consolidation becomes obligatory.Meantime, those with strongest Branding, Marketing, Distribution & Product development will rise to the top & later lead the consolidation. Give this another couple of weeks for the significance of the news to sink in.

rolo7 For the science, see page 9 of hTtp://www.symphonyenvironmental.com/flipbook/ Will research further for the ability of fish gut bacteria to further degrade the plastic fragments from SYM's d2w® plastic through to water soluble molecules. edit - much info here - hTtp://www.symphonyenvironmental.com/frequently-asked-questions/ and here hTtp://www.symphonyenvironmental.com/d2w/d2w-brochure-5/

I took a small position here yesterday. Much impressed by the product as described in the video clip - view via the link at the end of this extract from the last prelims "Symphony has developed and continues to develop, controlled-life plastic technology which helps tackle the problem of microplastics by turning ordinary plastic at the end of its service-life into biodegradable materials. It is then no longer a plastic and can be bioassimilated in the open environment in the same way as a leaf. The technology is branded d2w® and appears as a droplet logo on many thousands of tonnes of plastic packaging and other plastic products around the world. In some countries oxo-biodegradable plastic is mandatory. For a video of d2w® plastic degrading see hTtps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ7ce532BBM " hTtps://www.investegate.co.uk/symphony-environment--sym-/rns/interim-results/201709070700020314Q/
