20/4/2016 07:29 | Fairly grim reading. 2p here we come.....excellent buying opportunity! | audigger
17/4/2016 10:51 | Mattjos, spaceparallax, bbd2, You've all been very quiet on the ramping for a long time. Has reality set in? Have you realised you were wrong, that SYM is nothing more than a lifestyle fund, an ATM, for the Directors & their families? I want to hear about the latest wheeze in a long line - RuPERT, the US breakthrough, the product ID gun, the tyre shredding machine & more - that will make SYM a world player. I look forward to your spin of the upcoming results. I want to hear again how making a loss or a tiny profit after 15 years is in fact a good thing, that Michael Laurier still has the shareholders interests closest to his heart & is working hard for us, that the future for SYM is bright & great things are just over the horizon. | neilrr
06/4/2016 16:33 | Should be announcing results any day now......I think we all know the bla bla that will follow. Since 2002 the BoD have taken remuneration of circa £8,160,000...O | robertnash2
06/4/2016 16:02 | Might as well be, the BoD & Michael Laurier are the only people making any money out of it for the last decade. SYM is a textbook case of an ATM company there only for the benefit of the BoDs, mgmt & their families shoulder to shoulder at the trough. | neilrr
06/4/2016 10:17 | Is this share suspended? | ionlypostafterbbms
07/3/2016 13:21 | Shaun Robinson of Somerston cannot be too happy with his investment now down over 50%. Robinson's did they not make "Jam?" Fits in quite well with the Boards continued "Jam tomorrow scenario" | robertnash2
03/3/2016 10:40 | Newsflash! It's 2016 now. Let's hear it. | ionlypostafterbbms
02/3/2016 21:58 | Thank you shrout, it would seem that everyone is waiting for the inevitable to happen, surely Laurier and the Board are running out of (a) options and (b) funds. Somerston cannot be too happy with their investment as others to their detriment have found. I am bound by a compromise agreement up till June 2008, however any else from then on is a different matter. | robertnash2
02/3/2016 18:20 | Yes Robert, I was referring to Nelson. | shrout
02/3/2016 14:53 | short I believe you are referring to Nelson not SET? | robertnash2
02/3/2016 12:18 | I can't say I'm sad to see the closure of this company, albeit rather sad that 40 people have lost their jobs. I look forward to the day when the same happens to companies making single use plastic bottles, and manufacturers of all other non-degradable disposable plastic packaging. It's so cheap and ubiquitous it has become a blight on the modern world. I don't know what the answer is. At one time I hoped SYM might have part of the answer, but it appears they don't, as you say neilrr. | shrout
02/3/2016 11:51 | The market for self destructing bags was never there, hence SYM's dismal sales. | neilrr
02/3/2016 11:31 | surely the market for self distructing bags is still there !although use has declined by 70% there should be legislation regarding the rest to use additive to biodegrade. | haroldthegreat
01/3/2016 21:59 | Well, the carrier bag market is now gone. What's left for SYM? Plastic Bag Firm Blames 5p Charge For Collapse A packaging firm is blaming its collapse on the introduction of a 5p charge for plastic bags in England. Nelson Packaging said it had entered administration with the loss of 40 jobs at its factory in Lancashire. Managing director Michael Flynn said this was mainly due to "the English bag legislation" and the corresponding impact on customer and retailer demand. He added that "aggressive overseas competition ultimately proved too devastating for the ongoing viability of the business, despite the continued efforts of the loyal workforce." The 5p charge for plastic carriers, brought in to reduce non-recyclable litter, was introduced in England last October, following similar moves in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Two months later, supermarket chains reported a big drop in the use of bags in favour of multi-use alternatives. Wales first introduced the 5p charge in 2011, reporting a 71% drop in the number of plastic bags handed out by shops since charges were introduced. Scotland's levy came into force in 2014, with the number of single-use bags falling 80% - equivalent to 650 million carriers. Northern Ireland reported a 71% fall in 2013. | neilrr
03/2/2016 08:58 | Hopefully the Boards personal ATM has been removed and that remuneration will not be more than £50k each to finally show their commitment to the company and shareholders. Poftie Somerston big losses, what about the Hong Kong based company, same scenario. Laurier is very good at convincing investors in the past when funds are needed unfortunately the Board and he are unable to come up with the goodies. I am waiting for the share price to go to 4p at which time I will buy as I would like to put a group together that will turn up at the next AGM. | robertnash2
02/2/2016 12:11 | Ouch!!! It was only last June that Somerston put in £500k at 10p - what a disaster. Surely with a Director on the Board, and a noteworthy shareholding, they have the means to deal once and for all with Michael Laurier whose lack of competence is only equalled by his ability to profit at his investors expense. Come on Somerston - show us what you are really made of - unless that is something that is also showing signs of degrading..... | poftie
01/2/2016 22:01 | Absolutely a jam tomorrow never deliver stock imo | tsmith2
28/1/2016 12:03 | Is this the tyre slicing up machine that required 2 operators? LOL! We identified that as a useless POS the day it came out. When you go to the AGM ask Laurier how many they sold!!! Bawhahahahaha!! Ask him: How many tyre shredding machines have been sold? How many secret ingredient detectors have they now sold? How are USA sales & has the US distributor reordered after the initial order by the bankrupt real estate guy, now gone? Of the numbered distributors they talk about in their results how many have ordered more than once & with what regularity? | neilrr
26/1/2016 22:27 | SET's new website even harder to navigate imho and SRT has disappeared!!! | robertnash2
14/1/2016 17:38 | SP languishing at a 2 year low despite multiple 'jam tomorrow' pronouncements from Laurier & SYM. Where have all the Laurier supporters & SYM cheerleaders gone to? Has it finally gotten through their thick skulls that SYM is nothing but a lifestyle company that exists only to allow Laurier, his wife & family & the utterly useless BoDs to plunder the company? | neilrr
12/1/2016 17:06 | tsmith2 I have held off buying again as I hope they will reach your suggested level. One would have thought that there would have been a trading up date as the Financial Year ended 31st December. Prices must be getting tight as the polymer price is falling however the manufacturing prices are not. | robertnash2
23/12/2015 16:33 | 4p before you know it.. | tsmith2
23/12/2015 13:29 | begorrah88 why don't the other bloggers and yourself make an effort to go to next AGM. As yet I have not bought any shares if I wait a bit longer I may only have to 3p each. As the financial year end approaches I am sure they will issue an upbeat statement. Merry Christmas to all you disheartened shareholders. | robertnash2 |
