Excellent- they declare 79.61% of shares in significant tranches of over 3%. At about the same time Chris Cleverly has options which would give him 22.98% of the company.

Interesting sums! And that does not include any small investors.

Scroll to the very bottom of the page to see other holders, although 9 months out of date.

True and positive PR is to be welcomed.

I am not aware of any publication of shareholdings other than Chris Cleverley when he held almost 30%. Certainly do not know what the current board holdings are or any other significant investors.

Fair point fludde, but it didn't help much, so any PR exercise on the melanin front is welcomed. That aside, is Mr. Morris a PI? I can't find any mention anywhere as to who this investor is. Just curious.

We shall see- perhaps his confidence will translate to commercial performance.

This idea that the share price collapsed because of the China contamination scare is simply laughable. The shares were demolished long before that excuse came along.

I have no idea who DrJ is, but thanks for your astute reasoning GreycIoud.

Am I right in that there around 100M of these shares in circulation? Seems very illiquid. A few small buys push the price up, and a few small sells bring it down again. 10k share transactions is peanuts. I half expected the price to drop the moment I opened my mouth. Should have kept quiet. But I did think there would be some T10 traders selling around now, so I'm not worried. I know you long term holders must be very frustrated, but from my perspective, I am not too concerned what the price does short term. Just looking forward to trading updates. Chocolate gifts are very seasonal, and xmas and valentines and Easter are all close to hand. Talking of gifts, I read that it is traditional now for chocolate gifts to be the present of choice for Chinese weddings. I can see why SWC are confident of expanding sales in China.

I wonder why the big buyer at the beginning of this month was snapping up shares at twice the ask? Wasn't you GreycIoud by any chance?

I agree that their products are one of the few that actually do well in a recession. The general economic downturn may delay Chinese expansion as their industry will be hit by the decline in consumerism over here.

I believe in the business model which led me to invest here originally; it is the people running the business that I have concerns about. At least as you say this is now a real business unlike a number of my other investments.

Fair comment. I think there are many stocks today where one could say the same.

As I understand it, only 1% of EBC sales are in China, as yet an untapped market as their chocolate consumption is very low, but growing. Cadburys and Hershey are trying to get a piece of the action in China also, and if SWC succeed in their ambitions to increase sales in China, I see a possible takeover at some point in the future. All conjecture, but I am happier with this stock in todays climate, their niche product sales not really being affected by recession, than the usual pie in the sky and jam tomorrow outfits.

The rise is very welcome if unexplained. It follows on a long time after the indication that there would be further acquisitions so can only be related to some inside information suggesting they have tried to act on those intentions.

However remembering the EBC acquisition, a long drawn out episode made worse by their breaking their only PC which was used for due diligence, I do not look forward to the next attempt to expand or the request for cash to fund it.

There is no statute of limitations on incompetence merely the hope they have learnt from their past mistakes; mistakes many of us have paid for.

Fraud would be if they never had any intention of acquiring EBC. Incompetence, maybe, I too may feel the same if I bought years ago. But changing the board now? Not sure how that would help the share price and long term holders. Either way, what is your take on the share price rising 6p this month?

It is by no means irrelevant. If the board have squandered £millions of investors money (ie those of us who have been in for more than a few weeks) then they are not fit to run the company.

It matters not whether it has been incompetence or fraud- in either case they should not remain in charge.

Sorry, but what it was a few years ago is irrelevant now. EBC acquired this year. Looking forward to further acquisitions.

Rubbish.....

Price was hammered long before the Chinese scare story!!

Even looking at the chart above will tell you that, let alone what this share cost a few years ago.

EBC sales were unaffected by the melanin scare, and yet the price was hammered by the market and PI's panic, even though all chocolate is sourced from Switzerland. Price returning to normality. Perhaps that $50M tie up with a major Chinese producer is brewing?
