Hello I came across these recently and like a lot of what I see - expanding margins, increasing earnings, defensive sector exposure, decent balance sheet, increasing yield... I had a question for people who know the company far better than me. Looking back at the FY17 results, they took a massive £1.755m charge through the P&L for share based payments but which, bizarrely, they dont adjust for in their 17.7p adjusted EPS figure - incredible given that its around 10p EPS (see note 9 to their FY17 results which shows the relatively small adjustments for exceptionals and acq'n related intangible amort). Two questions: anyone know why around 3% of the market was given as share based payments (related to one of the acquisitions?) and has anyone spoken to the co re why they dont adjust for this? It makes a massive difference to the multiple Thanks Adam

Recent annoying fall due to the market IMO. AG: statement is clear. "The Board is pleased to report that trading in the first four months of the year is in line with expectations. We continue to see strong momentum in our branded business, with the first half year being positively impacted by another year of growth in our Christmas gifting ranges and further retail distribution gains in the UK and France. Our manufacturing business is also performing steadily against strong prior year comparators. As previously indicated we are seeing volumes normalise against the significant new products launched in the first half of last year. Pleasingly, there is a fresh wave of new product launches and contract wins that will contribute to our full year performance and bode well for future momentum. This is likely to give a second half bias to the year in this segment of the business. While we remain conscious of the continuing macro uncertainty both in the UK and internationally, overall we expect to maintain our positive progress and are well positioned to deliver against our expectations for the full year" What we need is a confident view of the future to get share price to recover. Should not be too much to ask for........

@martinthebrave. Looks like you were right, the finals have certainly reset the share price. Happy to hold these for a good while longer.

Were directors substantially rewarded when the share price reached £4? Does this mean clawback now that price is below £3? Tin hats for directors at AGM?

Unless the table is misleading, a huge number of sells today and almost no buys. Probably a reaction to Warpaint.

Interesting to note they've made a few redundancies recently. Gotta max that profit margin some how i guess!

karadas09. We get the Finals 19th Sept. So, following that everything moves forward a year and we will get 2018-19 Broker forecasts within a few days. These, together with the Outlook statement within the results should be good enough to kick start the share price IMO! It's a nice, well run company.

@martinthebrave. I hope so too, but the last trading update didn’t seem to inspire much of a price move and I expect the FY results to be broadly as indicated in the Trading Update. I suspect the share price weakness might persist as the whole personal goods sector seems to have turned negative since I took the plunge and bought a stake in SWL. That said the acquisition last year has proven to be immediately effective, and once the results are in the P/E ratio will likely move to a level which might grab the attention of value seekers. Aside from sound fundamentals, the overall growth strategy laid out by SWL under current management makes a lot of sense to me. Also my wife tells me their products are in her (well informed) opinion nicely packaged and very good!

@aishah. Good timing I think. I jumped in too early a few weeks back and sitting on a loss. Not too worried as it's a long term position for me. At today's price it's a bargain and if I had the spare funds would buy more myself.
