Any announcement of confirmation of OEM9 contract or one of the OEM8 carryovers will have the chocks removed sharpish! For that matter, any other of their significant pipeline. This is a “sit and wait” share.

I found this short piece on the AM Valkyrie. Good to see that the ST brake disks are being seen as distinct from typical CC brakes used by OEMs.https://www.carscoops.com/2021/03/top-gear-takes-a-deep-dive-into-aston-martins-new-f1-car-and-the-valkyrie-hypercar/amp/"Speaking of the brakes, they are advanced CCM-R discs even more advanced than carbon-ceramic discs. They are so race-focused that their optimum running temperature is about 600 degrees Celsius (1,112 Farenheit)."

As the best carbon ceramic brakes are going to be in hot demand and the barriers of entry are stonkingly high, the major issue is being able to scale up fast enough. Development at SCE is surely only going to accelerate at speed from here so the comments by David Bundred are right on message and necessary. Can the company buy enough ducks to get the necessary amount of them in a row in good time?

Interesting to note that manufacturing output of new vehicles (all of which now rely on vast amounts of high tech equipment, EV or not) are being severely delayed by a chronic shortage of semiconductors. Supply lines were severely messed up by the pandemic fallout and what chips were being produced were gobbled up by Apple and the other “communication” giants due to demand by consumers for connected IT. It led to an announcement by President Biden last week of an executive order to review what can be done (with a clear eye on wresting manufacturing away from Taiwan, etc).

I'd have thought non-execs with the right level of knowledge, experience and contacts would be invaluable to a small Company with global ambitions.

There’s another 4 cells to be built at Knowsley so I guess the picture painted by David Bundred in his comments are medium term in scope. That said, I can easily envisage a snowballing effect at quite some speed here, as giant motor companies realise what scale of development is likely to unfold in the coming decade, electromobile-wise.

Better to have knowledgeable, experienced, relevant NED’s on your board than paying vast fortunes to external “consultants” for big reports. I don’t for one moment regard these two appointments as PR motivated.

I don't think Kevin and David sail close to the wind.

While I realise the PR value in Non-execs, I am less convinced about the economic value added.

Yes SCE will need more factories, but I would hope they happen after all the learnings from Knowsley are embeded.

Why do we refer to Electric Vehicles (EVs) when electromobiles would suffice?

Biggest PV auto manufacturing countries in the world, in size order -

China, US, Japan, Germany, India, Mexico, Korea, Brazil and Spain.

I suggest that having plants in;

1. China (also for export to Japan and Korea),
2. US (also for export to Mexico and Brazil),
3. UK (also for export to Germany and Spain),
4. India

On a 10 year view should have us covered. We have (3.), and both China and the US are pushing ahead with EVs rapidly, so they would appear to be the next most likely locations. Of course, Germany, Mexico and Korea should never be discounted if one wants to think about ambition. But is management sufficiently ambitious or will they develop a premature interest in the yacht industry?

These appointments offer a glimmer of hope ...

Give it time Graham1TY. I see this as extremely positive, the management obviously know a great deal more than us guys and they know where their going with this. I’m very comfortable with everything about this company, the way it’s run and it’s prospects going forward over the short and long term. I’ve held shares in SCE a long time and boy has it been worth it in every way.

So the Company will be moving to other manufacturing locations.

Question is, will this happen before or after full expansion of the current facility.

Is is possible that a big deal with a US manufacturer, for example, could lead to a manufacturing facility being established in the US sooner rather than later.

Interesting times.
