If there has been tensions I would imagine it would revolve around "other commitments" which is what led to Holt leaving Mears (or being pushed as I remember). He is still Chairman of Totally PLC, Executive Chairman of Lakehouse plc, Non-Executive Chairman of Inprova Group, and a director of a number of other businesses. So it maybe the rest of the SUR board wanted more commitment going forward.

Riv, If BH's departure was amicable he would have had some words in the RNS and not done a 'gone in sixty seconds'. There would also have been a transition whilst he handed over to the next leader. If it was ill health that would have been stated or implied, with possible words from BH. I sold on the news, just my natural caution. If I were long and strong I'd be on the trumpet asking why he left so abruptly. It might not be bearish but it ain't bullish.

The RNS was fulsome in its praise for BH, so his departure would seem amicable. I suspect it's for personal reasons, i.e ill health or reduction of workload - perhaps the former given the lack of notice. I'm more disappointed that the AGM RNS didn't have a trading update (though I note that SUR don't always issue an AGM update, i.e in 2019). We'll have to be satisfied with the "strong start" to 2021 mentioned a few weeks ago in the prelims. I asume that no further elaboration today means that there's been no change since then.

I think as shareholders we need more information from sureserve surrounding this situation.

If it was due to ill-health then the RNS would have mentioned "personal reasons"

As much as I agree this development is odd, the price hasn't even taken the lows from 2 days ago, therefore the market doesn't seem to place much importance on it. If the market doesn't, neither do I. Stops in place though.

A falling out or ill health? It is odd.

Banked my 60% profit. No Executive Chairman with any credibility (which BH has/had) resigns on the day of the AGM. BH's departure is a material event and the company would have been forced to issue an RNS upon becoming aware of it so it's inconceivable that replacement directors have been lined up which would have taken many weeks to orchestrate. There's much more to this than is being disclosed.

IMO this has not happened over night and has been planed for sometime. The new guys will already have been picked and contacted and an agreement in place. I see this as a very positive move for the company and in a short time span we will be back on an upward direction and this may be seen as a good buying opportunity. Trading & outlook statement at the AGM today will reassure investors and the Market!

Price Monitoring Extension A price monitoring extension is activated when the matching process would have otherwise resulted in an execution price that is a pre-determined percentage above or below the price of the most recent automated execution today. Mmm A second and final Price Monitoring Extension has been activated in this security. The auction call period is extended in this security for a further 5 minutes. Following the first price monitoring extension this security would still have executed more than a pre-determined percentage above or below the price of the most recent automated execution today. London Stock Exchange electronic order book users have a final opportunity to review the prices and sizes of orders entered in this security prior to the auction execution. Could be a big price movement in five minutes at 9:16 ... holding my breath! Scratches head AGM starts at 10am.

I find this very strange and am pleased the share price has not fallen more. Very strange to leave immediately and for him to issue no statement of goodbye. Could understand if there was a health issue but no mention of that. I have not been a shareholder on other companies he has run so no idea if this is par for the course.. My impression is that there was a falling out with Mears.

I think that's right. He's done his job. Time to hand over. We need to know who his successor is. I guess we'll hear this at the AGM. That should steady the market.

Rivaldo,I agree with your post and it will start to hot up here over the coming months. Bob Holt has done a good job however I think the change will benefit the company and move it to the next stage.

Congrats to Bob Holt. He's overseen the turnaround and done his job - no need to overstay. Per the RNS, SUR are now: "a highly successful and well-focussed Group in attractive market segments underpinned by regulatory drivers. Sureserve is now debt-free with a re-instated dividend, posting EBITA of GBP10.4m in the latest financial year and the Group now has firm foundations from which to deliver its growth plans." In particular: "Sureserve is now ready to develop and execute its growth strategy, which will be a very exciting time for all of us." Now where's that AGM statement?!
