Any slight drop in LFL sales would I assume have a huge effect on profits as the new stores and fulfilment centres must have added a lot of extra costs. Sometimes Brands like these over estimate the demand for designs that the public can so quickly find old hat. One just has to look at what has occurred with so many brands like Gap - French Connection etc etc.

PG reinforces my belief in SGP. Here's the latest from SCSW:

Supergroup - Peak period Q3 sales growth accelerates to 14.9%

(Sharewatch) New 52-week highs were seen before retracing after Supergroup issued its Q3 update for the 10 weeks to 10 January, which showed a strong performance over the peak period: like-for-like growth in Retail had accelerated to 14.9% in Q3, versus 11.9% in Q1 and 13.7% in Q2.
E-commerce is now 24% of retail sales. Over the next year, the company should be able to fulfil European orders from its new DC, launch the new App and significantly improve its digital marketing effort. Supergroup also opened nine net new stores in Q3 adding 74,000 sq. ft. to its trading space. It said the new UK store format was trading well and will be extended to a further five stores in Q4.
Cantor has upgraded to eps of 83.6p for the full year to end April, which will be announced on 11 May. For the following year the forecast lifts to 94.1p. Keep buying.

LOL opodio. It does not look that way again today - £15 looks more like the ceiling that dreamers will be looking at for a long time to come. Better take up star watching, as that could be the only bit of light you get to see as this falls imo.

Price target of £22. (tjbird)clearly a pipe dream if you consider Panmure Gordon`s figure of under £19. Both wishful thinking imo, as one or two poor days could send this back down below the £14+ level I suggest. Good Luck if your long though.

Today's news on retail sales falling maybe only the start of a greater decline, and not only in the UK - once again we may see a host of other countries suffering retail sales declines - in addition I wonder how hard SGP will be hit by any rate hike the company may suffer plus wage growth across the board.

In last month’s portfolio comment, I let the cat out of the bag on Supergroup’s (SGP; 1625p) NAP inclusion but many of you will have it already as it is a long term favourite. One of the stranger features of this retail story is that it is a massive beneficiary of the Brexit currency fallout as 55% of sales are outside the UK. Chief executive Euan Sutherland has overseen another year of soaring sales and profits for its Superdry brand. He launched an innovative new store concept at Westfield London and Manchester Arndale shopping centres and continued his focus on athleisure and tailored menswear. It has also opened a 12,000 sq ft store in New York and a 40,900 sq ft monster in Berlin, with new distribution centres also opened in both countries. E-commerce sales are growing like topsy. The eps forecast is 83.1p for the year to end April with 93.9p next year. I think this should trade on a PE of 30x.

£15 and there about, seems to be its ceiling as the consensus about the retail industry is a slowing and tough trading period due to rising prices, the weak pound and general fear.

2017 could be the year to make money by going short on retail stocks in general, as competition is also likely to reduce profits as retailers struggle to try to retain market share imo.

Half year report 12th Jan, this has dropped due to Julian selling shares so confidence has lowered, he sold as he has invested in other opportunities and still owns a large proportion of SGP.
