I ran this past my wife before investing and she gave it the thumbs up, so I am in. The memories of all the expensive metal trolleys dumped in the river and the concept of these cheap ones got my attention.

-with a profitable second half forecast, I think folks will be looking beyond the loss making first half and towards this second half and 2010, where the prospects are extremely encouraging.

Good update, RHPS recommendation and MM price antics have pushed the share price up today. This looks to have good long term potential but the current share price looks rich on the basis they they will still probably post a £500,000 loss this year.

Will look to buy-in if the price retreats back to circa 15p in due course after the current excitement has subsided !

-interesting post from iii board, by gavster-NBC
-don't know who wrote the following, but it looks about right

Plastic trolley maker Supercart, flagged up last month before its interim results, is making significant progress in the second half and looks on course for a maiden half-year profit.

Finance director Stephen Wright says that, although costs will be increased, Supercart 'will be profitable in the second half', on the back of recent contract wins in the US, resulting from its acquisition of the brands and trolley moulds of former competitor Rehrig.

Wright confirmed that the US's fifth largest retailer, Target, has increased its recent order of 15,000 units to 23,000, and that Toys Я Us had made an order 'only ten days ago', adding to '$0.5m of orders' from both Burlington Coat Stores and Pep Boys Stores. He says it is the aim of the company to soak up all of Rehrig's previous customers, which bought around 180,000 carts in 2008 and circa 300,000 the year before. 'None of Rehrig's customers from last year have gone elsewhere and the big period for retailers to do the bulk of their buying is now. We've booked 41,000 [carts] in two months, so is it reasonable for us to shoot for 100,000?' he muses.

Recent results for the six months to June, not including any revenues from the US, showed sales down 8% to £947,000 and losses increased 50% to £1.1m before tax. Results from the previously core South African operations were merely 'satisfactory', while the European operations experienced deferred buying decisions from retailers.

If momentum in the US continues, Supercart should deliver its first ever profitable half-year, though will remain in the red for the full year, and the shares, highlighted for risk lovers only last month at 14p, retain a speculative glint.

LOL - so the MMs mark up the price by nearly 70% on the back of the RHPS recommendation and less than 30,000 shares traded so far. People paying over 20p to buy SC this morning are nuts !

That's OK 8T. You know it's a normal reaction, maybe, to being found out. I did that type of thing years ago. I also use to react aggresivley when someone accused me.

I was not here spoiling for a slanging match. Just found it annoying that someone was ramping a good company over many threads. Shame you took things the wrong way.

I will leave it as that and let the sensible posters continue.

Hey Clive, why dont you contact advfn with whatever username
you claim was ramping this today and then offer my username
and ask them to tell you that you are writing again complete bolox
when they confirm the IP address is a million miles apart !

Why do i need to ramp this, i've been holding from 8p, i have no
bad position, i admit it's a tiny position and not worth getting
excited about but i'm happy to mostly lurk in the background !

As long as their margins are healthy then they can justify the
premium rating, that's the current market cap, i say that because
you can buy some very nice profit making companies for the same
value as Supercart but the market will value this on the future
and the future seems to be be bright with a steady stream of contracts
and all the retailers interested are massive so the recent orders
could just be the tip of the iceberg.

Supercart AGM 28th July 2009

This was the smallest AGM I have attended and I challenge anyone to say (truthfully) they have been to a smaller one ;-)

Attendees:
Me
CFO – Stephen. Wright
NED – Charles. Price
Registra

Having got the formal part of the meeting out of the way, which included apologies from Chairman Victor Segal – (flu) and Michael Wolfe (in North America) we moved on to a general discussion of which my memories of the key points are as follows:

- The South African Business is, and has been for many years, profitable.
- It is a major job for Supermarkets to change their trolleys, which gives a lot of security to the business and barriers to entry but makes expansion very hard.
- The business is surprisingly seasonal with 80% in the second half of the year.

The Rehrig (parts of) acquisition is transformational.

- Rehig had about 30% of the US market in 2007 going down to 15% in 2008
- Being seasonal and with Rehrig going under Dec 2008 much of that 15% ought to be reasonably low hanging fruit to be able to continue the contracts (that is probably vastly underestimateing a major sales task).
- Most Supermarket annual budgets run from July so this is the time that contracts can be picked up.
- 15% of the US market is roughly equal (in trolley numbers) to 5 times the current South African business.
- So last years turnover of almost £5m GPB could turn into £30m or more.

Other Thoughts:
Todays RNS (which was issued after The AGM finished and I had left the building and was therefore not discussed):

The order announced today is from a leading national retailer which operates over 1,500 stores in more than 40 states. The contract has been awarded to Supercart's wholly owned US subsidiary Plasti-Cart Inc. ('Plasti Cart'). The contract requires Plasti Cart to supply plastic/metal hybrid shopping trolleys, and is worth over $1.85 million in the current year.

Looks to me as if it could be from Safeway (USA)

With a current mkt Cap of £10m I can see every reason why this should multi-bag from here with more contract announcements likely in the coming weeks/months and although their were some US sales in H1 the H2 results (likely June 2010) should be truly transformation especially if they manage to pick up any of the 15% of the US market only recently lost in additional to the 15% which should be a continuation.
