plutonian: Styles & Wood Group PLC Contract Win hTTps:// "Styles & Wood was successful following a two-stage tender process and management believe that the contract, which will span a 72 week period, should contribute approximately GBP38.25 million of revenue over the duration of its life." Shame we will not benefit :-(
kazoom: I certainly approve of Directors focusing on managing the business rather than managing the share price. However, I don't think it would be too distracting for them to be a little more forthcoming with announcements. I suppose one can hold to the view that as they are obliged to inform the market if performance will be materially different to expectations, so in that sense no news is good (or actually neutral) news. Trouble is that such comfort only holds up to the day of a profits warning! Looking back I'd referred to the fact that we didn't get a FY trading statement until the beginning of April this year (and the results themselves at the end of that month. And in 2016 there was no pre-close announcement at all (although the results themselves were at the beginning of April). Whilst in 2015 they did give an update in Feb (although the results were not until June). I can perhaps understand them wanting 3 or 4 months to finalise the results (5 seems a little excessive), but with the FY ending in December it wouldn't seem unreasonable that they could give a view in Jan or Feb, particularly given the uncertainties in the sector caused by he likes of Carrilion & Interserve. I think I might write to them suggesting the same.
trigger blade: lefrene, A few years ago, about 2009 I think, I was told by a director of JHD, in answer to my question as to why the company was valued so low at that point, that if they kept doing the right things, the share price would take care of itself and he was absolutely right. Maybe the directors of STY take a similar view, let's hope for a similar outcome :-)
trigger blade: Would you like to bounce your company share price by 5%? Simply announce the date of release of your 6 month results and hey presto! :-)
graham1ty: Nobilis, not sure about 50p, but fingers crossed. The share price was suggesting there was something we did not know, some horrendous pending announcement. This statement withdraws that concern at least for a while
rp19: Share price action not good but I was happy with the results and outlook. Lots of framework opportunities about, hopefully some positive news on these will reverse the recent trend.
rp19: Surprised at the decline in share price as I thought the results were very positive. Increasing profits, order book and confident outlook. Undemanding rating, a strong hold for me.
smallcapinvestor1: Eps forecast is 55p for this year and that is being very conservative. I reckon 60p more likely.Revenue is slight red herring now because the company are being more selective and going after higher margin work. Also much less pass through revenue work where they source and supply goods and make almost nothing on it but still count it as revenue.Cash generation very strong. The current share price is 50% too low.
ramridge: All the company has to say is something along the lines of "in the context of this RNS, the Board's expectations are identical or very close to current consensus market expectations" That's it. That would clear all the noise and doubts and send the share price north. They can do this as an explanatory note which does not require issuing a new RNS, because it would then not be considered new information but just a clarification. They can do it via their broker too. It would be good if they did this today. But if no such clarification appears by tomorrow, you got to ask yourself (a) are they really that incompetent? or (2) what are they hiding?
