Rail civil engineering division used to be lucrative, instead they took eye of ball, lost competitive edge with plant & machinery , lost good staff with petty cost cutting, etc.

Once a good company, now an also ran.

These will hover around 40p until there are more flights. Sale of the Rail division and investment properties should be the priority to leave them concentrating on biomass and Southend airport.

The rail business being sold to Buckingham group?

Buckingham’s must only want them for the plant and machinery.

The covid grounding of entire fleets of commercial planes have forced delays of
deploying Boeing's New 737 MAX, the perfect quieter smaller carrier, best suited for
City of London, Southend, Carlisle etc. Then you have electric aviation which is not far behind.

"it does prove what can be achieved when we work together to balance the economic benefits of the airport with the social and environmental impacts. "

"At long last after sustained pressure from local residents"

"Southend Airport were contacted but declined to comment."

Working together !
Stop flying at night or else !

Will this make any difference at the moment - surely lots of slots during the day to fill ?

Following the announcement on 4 June 2020 of the Capital Raise, the Company announces the successful completion of the bookbuilding process for the Firm Placing and conditional Placing of Open Offer Shares, which has now closed, and subject to the conditions set out below, will raise gross proceeds of GBP100 million at a price of 40 pence per New Share (the "Offer Price").

David Shearer, Chairman of Stobart Group, said today:

"We are delighted to have received support from both our existing shareholders and new investors for our equity issue, which will place the Group on a sound financial footing going forwards. On behalf of the Board, I would like to express my gratitude to those who have provided their support. We look forward to repaying their trust in us by delivering on our strategic objectives in the coming years."

Morale of story is insiders own the company...wider shareholders are just a side kick...for the purpose or RI and Placings...

We gained a load of cash when we sold off Stobart Logistics and decided to squander it on dividends and directors remuneration. We told shareholders that there was a never ending supply of dividend cash to pay until we actually were making profits - but we were clueless and now the shareholders reap what we sow.

" Reasons for the Capital Raise

A detailed operational and financial review was conducted during 2019 which set out a clear path to maximising long term value for the Group's shareholders. As a result, the Group announced in November 2019 it would be suspending its dividend and that it had commenced a process to obtain new long-term debt to fund its growth investment programme. In parallel, as announced on 17 March 2020, the Group explored the option of raising financing through the sale of a minority investment in London Southend Airport. "

In other words -

We gained a load of cash when we sold off Stobart Logistics and decided to squander it on dividends and directors remuneration. We told shareholders that there was a never ending supply of dividend cash to pay until we actually were making profits - but we were clueless and now the shareholders reap what we sow.

So a massive discounted rights issue to fix the holes in the balance sheet which we put there .... sure we thought we would be able to borrow our way out of this self inflicted mess - but we cannot even do that in this world of near zero interest rates.....
