I think we have less than 10 posters on here. STCM has very low visibility on investors radar, PI's that is. I expect once the dividend is announced it will be spotted by a few more yield hunters. 3 of us here used to hold WCC, I guess that tells a story.

It's rarely wrong to take profits, however, given the CEO adding 2.5million shares, Apollo adding many more millions to its holding, Mr Amzi Wan Hamsah sitting on a 29.1% stake and the recent update on 2018 results; sellers in STCM shares yesterday, could well rue the day. The 29.1% holder is not going to sit on his stake for ever and a day; hence one way or another the company will face a bid sooner than later.

Given the date Q1 2018 was reported, it should not be long before Q1 2019 follows FY 2018 results.

Yes, the Apollo Fund has a wonderful track record & am quite sure it is the combination of Yield & inevitable capital appreciation that Clare is looking for here.
This is an Ugly Duckling just beginning its transformation into a Golden Goose.

If anyone has any doubts about Claire Barnes Apollo fund then have a look at her site, superb performance. She is very much an income builder for the rich. You have to be an experienced investor with the minimum of $1m just to get on the list, that's if you do get accepted anyway as there's a waiting list.

Suggest folk look carefully at the list of Notifiable Holders for Steppe & then do some research.

Tan Sri Azmi bin Wan Hamzah + Apollo Asia + Family of David Crichton-Watt account for 122,019,761 shares between them (55.716%)

Let's see who is first to post up the linkage here.

Javier Del Ser Perez (CEO) now holds 18,243,115 shares (after recent purchases) … that now takes the combined holdings of the top 4 holders to 140,262,876 (64.04%)

Firebird, Consilium & Neon then account for another 32,589,260 (14.88%)

So, 78.92% of the stock is tied up here now and i don't see any of this lot being sellers any time soon.

Free float is actually pretty slim.

Poking about, I can find several different references in the Cement Plant Operations Handbook (2007 Edition) & other references which point towards a cost of $130 - $200m per tonne of capacity for new build dry line cement plant

call it $165 / tonne capacity … even at 2007 costs, Steppe dry Lines would cost as follows to build:

2,000,000*165 = $330,000,000

with 12 years of inflation, build costs now likely minimum $250m

Of course, you can't plonk these things down anywhere … you need nearby limestone resource, road/rail infrastructure, planning permission & a nearby source of demand.

Todays mkt cap is just under $100m

In circa 8 working weeks, we will all know how good the results are and the size of the dividend.

I see the bid has jumped 2p this morning to 30.5p. Looks like the modest addition I made first thing, was well timed.

Edit; 0940hrs. CHING !!

A half page article in Sat D.Tel, was devoted to China's Belt Road Initiative(BRI), in which it is investing two US trillion dollars. The article is focused on political and trade relationships and the potential for the UK to become a major beneficiary.

A significant amount of that money will be spent on infrastructure projects in countries running along the old Silk Road route between China's western border and Iran. Kazahkstan five times the size of the UK with a quarter of its population, will represent one of the most developed gateways for China to develop trade and political relationships with countries along that route.

The company is already effectively debt-free if it so chose to be, seasonal debt to finance maximum winter production will always be a feature, and there is no point in
retiring the cheap wagon debt.

Taking into account the bit of trading that SEB have done and the divi they received last year, they have total exposure now of £1.696m for 11,375,668 shares.
Gives them an average of circa 15p.
Not bad going in 26 months since they popped up here.

To deliver a 3-4p div, I would expect to see the company to announce it being effectively debt free in FY 2019.

3p it will be, could even be 4p if the season is very good, as expected, as the Weather has already turned and is plus 9c, today, so Spring is arriving and STCM makes hay whilst the sun shines, with the crescendo in August as the price peaks and supply gets tight.

I see two 10k buys have appeared taking advantage of the dip. If the results are good as expected, a corresponding rise in the share price should overwhelm the 1-2p dividend.
