So yields 13.8% at 38p, with net cash already ahead of year-end forecast?

jeansey - I guess they were probably trying to argue the toss with the authorities.

I would have expected price to rise with that announcement?

Well that took them far too long to make a statement about the interim dividend. Clearly some sold as a result of the delay and perhaps a few more will exit today. In the meantime the share price has taken a big hit.

Thanks Dr. That then begs the question - how big will that FY divi be. With the 'missed' interim divi and and good results it could be...... how much?

The management maybe should consider bringing the AGM forward by a couple of months.

My interpretation is that only a FY dividend will be granted post AGM approval of the accounts to avoid the 15% withholding tax. Makes sense TBH. I guess this may drift in the meantime but a juicy FY dividend should beckon? That is early July.

Steppe Cement Limited Statement re Interim Dividend PolicySource: UK Regulatory (RNS & others)TIDMSTCMRNS Number : 1762SSteppe Cement Limited12 November 202112 November 2021Steppe Cement LtdInterim Dividend in light of Regulatory ChangesAfter careful consideration of the changes in certain government regulations in 2021 in Kazakhstan and having taken independent accounting advice, the Board has been made aware that an Interim Dividend may attract a 15% Withholding Tax when paid to a foreign holding company. The position of the Kazakhstan Tax Department is that dividends can only be declared from post-tax profit once the accounts are audited and the Annual General Meeting has approved the audited accounts. The Board is of the opinion that paying the 15% Withholding Tax and hoping to recover it in the summer represents a significant risk and has therefore decided to pay the Dividend for 2021 only after the Annual General Meeting. The financial position of the company remains as indicated in the first half announcement and the Net Cash position (cash minus debt) is USD 12 million. This policy on Interim Dividends will continue until the Board is convinced that payment of Interim Dividends can be made under the same conditions as the Final Dividend.

I would doubt that a group of frustrated holders all decided out the blue that last Wednesday was the day to dump. Likewise today. Nothing new here today that I can see as a catalyst to trigger a sell off...........the conspiracy continues.

285K shares traded according to stockopedia. Is it just frustrated holders selling out at the lack of dividend news? The Q3 update was a positive one, so you imagine it's not related to the business itself per se. It will be at my original purchase price soon - my divi reinvestment at 50+p doesnt look clever but if the divi is maintained, and the business seems to be in good health, this looks like an opportunity?

Shareprice inversely correlated to a rising price of diesel and electricity perhaps?

Sunaks rules will be interesting,i am sure a lot of smaller companies will list elsewhere if they are too demanding, some like glencore and thungela with coal assets will be planning there departure as i speak,i am sure all the main sipp/isa providers will have to provide access to many more different foreign exchanges. As wilo says winters a good time for a top up here as most people dont understand how cold it gets in the winter and production looks like its fell off a cliff but its entirely normal for kazakh construction type companies GLA

Nought wrong with producing CO2. Trees die without it and it puts veggies on yer plate!

The price always declines during the winter and until the Spring, always a good seasonal buying opurtunity.

I'm sure you're right that some dual listed companies might leave the UK listing Andy. Not sure about huge ones like RIO and POLY - both have released very detailed plans regarding ESG issues so I think they were ahead of the curve. I'm more concerned about smaller companies I hold like STCM and CAML as the manpower and financial resources to devote to ESG issues will be a much bigger issue for smaller companies imo.

Our assumption is it will all be rolled into the final due to potential WT exposure without final FS's for the full year, will just mean a bumper summer and meanwhile interest on the KZT at 10% plus with a chance of an FX gain, too, policy is still to pay our all cash.

I believe the price fall to be a combination of things.Traders who bought at the lows between 20/30 pence exiting with their profits, the usual lack of ir which shorter term shareholders are not used to,a general malaise of the share prices of boring profitable companies due to the frenzy to invest in the new green economy projects and sunaks new rules. One can certainly see large dual listed miners eg rio tinto leaveing the LSE.I am content here might not make me a million but out of the hundreds of new green projects that come to market you would have to be lucky to pick the next amazon and many will go bust.Steady ,boring debt free companies will do for me.As always good luck to everyone with their investments

Hope that is the case. If a dividend is announced next week together with a reassuring update the price decline will be reversed very quickly and I will consider adding to my position. Otherwise I will hold on as it is a small position so I can take some downside risk.

Perhaps we've been hammered lately because of Sunak's pushing UK listed companies to show how they will be 'decarbonising' (I hate that word). Cement production is a big contributor to CO2. Maybe nothing to do with interim dividend and it will be announced next week?

When div. policy is changed from one year to another, the least the company should do is to communicate to the shareholders the reason behind it. Normally companies cannot wait to trumpet a piece of good news so the silence from the company despite multiple shareholders inquiries can be well interpreted as no good news or more likely hidden behind bad news as long as it can. The chart certainly indicates the later. I hope I am wrong as I still hold a small stake and live in hope.

Very gloomy posters on this board.Whats changed with steppe?they have never gone overboard with investor relations, its only this year that they have had a new website.Kazakhstan economy looks fine and lots of new projects next year that will require lots of cement.Interim divi is probably a tax issue,as wilo states the money the company is holding is earning interest. As far as i can see its business as usual.GLA with your investments
