I'm not saying I don't believe that particular story, I'm saying that by going on zerohedge you are exposing yourself to huge bearish bias. He sat out all of the last bull market, and will do the next one too.

Well argued post jailbird. Can’t fathom why someone has ticked it down? Unwillingness to consider both sides of the investment case presumably?

I’ve been dithering about whether or not to buy Steppe again, and the doubts are for similar reasons to those you posted. Unless I’ve missed it (if so please someone post the relevant info showing otherwise) it is not even clear if there will be that 3p dividend in August. And if there is will the share rise enough after the ex dividend date to make up the difference?

Also Steppe is not going to increase profits much, so unless a bid (and with covid causing Companies so much hassle and extra expense what chance of that happening soon?) is there anything else to give the share a lift?A lot of other bombed out shares likely to have far more upside?

This guy is the second largest shareholder, an investment genius, for years was the right hand man of Soros in Asia, alongside Druckenmiller and the late Gerard Manolvici, also known as the Prince of Darkness on Wall Street: hxxps://www.theassay.com/articles/musings-on-the-vagaries-of-the-market-in-gold-stocks-and-what-comes-next/

Reading the results again Like for many Cos this year will not match , best forecasts or expectations Forward outlook is less positive .Reduced demand and we are seeing the affects of increased competition the Co mentioned few months back .I would say in terms of revenues and margins the Co has peaked .Domestic market consumption is constantly around 9 tonnes per year And exports have reduced .Rest of the year by reducing costs and with lower coal prices , Co will maintain profitability , reduce debt .Best hope it continues to pay a dividend , otherwise any interest we gave no will also die.Like I said , it will just be a dividend play again .The best hope for share price appreciation is indeed a bid by an interest party . . Will that ever happen ?

clearly most folk seem content with 0.01% interest for cash on deposit rather than 11.5% for dividend from Steppe.
Nought so daft as folk

Like buying a house, if its already standing, you know exactly what your getting and what its going to cost you.. Building a house/building/industrial complex rarely turns out exactly as you expected and the costs are invariably more than you catered for.

Emphasises the appeal as an acquisition target. Anyone wanting to get into the market would be better off buying STCM than starting from scratch. You could buy STCM for less than it would cost you, and you'd remove them as a competitor as part of the deal

I bought in back in April after it came up a number of times on various value and quality stockopedia screens looking for under priced stocks. After delving deeper into their financials, and it was a screaming buy for me. If they do announce a 3p divi, then that will be the icing on the cake for me!

It's not a common occurrence to see a chairman emphasing the cost of building an equivalent company in the annual report. It can't possibly be an off the cuff or flippant comment, so it must have been put there for a specific reason.

Over last couple of years , this has just become a dividend trade
Take your dividend payment and run
--------------------------------------------------------------
Well, in contrast to much of the market currently showing gains, this is not just another dog wanting to be walked... This has 99 ranking of Stocko, passes three long screens, and has the outer of a very large dividend.

There aren't many such.

Value will out.

that is quite right jailbird however, i do not think wise to sell all in between divis as there will be a bid one morning for sure + the company is willing to consider to switch to two divis per year once clearly net cash +ve

I've taken some more today. Needs to clear 28 decisively, but may be some profit taking before that. Stonking value, especially for dividend holders. I would see target levels at 37, then 45p.

Over last couple of years , this has just become a dividend trade Take your dividend payment and run If the share price happened to run up too much before payment then ppl sell before dividend tooJust does not seem to have the interest to hold any gains
