They still operate as Suparule in South Africa but Irish based head office .I have a few thousand mostly purchased over a year ago.I note from the accounts that a director holds over 2 million shares. What i cannot understand is why they have such little regognition. You can pay a lot more for alot less than they have to offer.More info on -www.smftechnologies.com

New media spark has made an offer for the whole of Softecnet. It seems to be quite a clever move that will give NMS exposure to India. Also the fact STC is mostly cash - approx 15p - the offer looks quite reasonable.

The question will we see more of the cash rich incubators being bought or will this be a one off?

ADVFN NewsWire (12:54) - Softtechnet.com, a company that has been established to take advantage of the investment opportunities available within the software, technology and internet-related sectors, with particular focus in India, the UK and the US, announces the appointment of Sanjit Talukdar as director.

Mr. Talukdar, 33, has almost 11 years' investment-related experience. He has worked with leading financial institutions, including Credit Suisse First Boston and Foreign and Colonial Emerging Markets Limited, where he launched one of the first open-ended funds to invest in India.

He is a director of PNT Capital Advisors, one of the founding shareholders of Softtechnet.com, and formerly investment sub-adviser to the Aberdeen India Fund. He was a board member of Aberdeen India from March, 1997, until its merger in May, 1999.

He is a professional economist and holds degrees from both Oxford University and the London School of Economics. He is also a director of James Murray & Co. and a partner in other family-owned businesses based in India.

Mr. Talukdar was a director of Central Park Lodge before resigning in September, 1996, and has been a director of Dulwich Gate Management since January, 1999.

Tony Sarin, Softtechnet's chief executive, said: "We are delighted to have secured the talents of Sanjit Talukdar. He is one of the pioneers of the offshore Indian fund management industry and has a business network in ndia that will give us unrivalled access to potential investee companies.

"Sanjit brings a wealth of international experience from some of the world's leading financial institutions and we are looking forward to working with him in the development of Softtechnet's overall strategy."
