09/5/2017 11:18 | I wanted to buy some shares in these a few months ago after the stamp scandal broke but when I looked at the accounts they were unintelligible. What SGI do is bundle the divisions into different headings like interiors or internet and it is impossible to follow the workings of each group. It's hard to avoid the conclusion this is deliberate. Regarding the Mallett stock it may be worth very little. Older antiques can be very heavily restored and at times it is not that clear what is new and what is original. There is the old adage of 'there are a thousand old refectory tables and three thousand of them are in America'. I just remember a similar old established business in London David Mellor lost money in and it all ended up in court and the restoration exposed. There is so much debt and claims I'm amazed the shares have any value atall and it could just represent hope value. I am sure Baldwins is a good business but it's not clear that shareholders will benefit as the banks could get there first sadly. | ltcm1

09/5/2017 08:32 | Normally Management Tone means something. I am not sure that it means anything with this lot, looking at recent history | jadeticl3
09/5/2017 08:07 | Tried to buy a decent lump at 6.5 and could only get 10k. Market's short of em. My guess they close up on the day. There is nothing to worry about in the statement from what I can see and the management tone is v positive. | richie666 |
