Standard Chartered PLC ("SC") announces that it has purchased the following number of its ordinary shares of US$0.50 each on the London Stock Exchange through Merrill Lynch International.

SC intends to cancel the purchased shares.

Following the purchase of these shares, SC will have 3,196,211,847 ordinary shares in issue. Therefore, the total voting rights in SC will be 799,052,961. This figure for the total number of voting rights may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, SC under the FCA's Disclosure Guidelines and Transparency Rules.

SC announces that, following the purchase of these shares, the buyback of SC's ordinary shares that commenced on 2 May 2019 (the "Buyback") has completed. Since the commencement of the Buyback, the Company has repurchased for cancellation 116,103,483 ordinary shares at a volume weighted average price of 686.323p per ordinary share for an aggregate consideration of approximately US$1bn.

SC holds no shares in Treasury.
