#2002,

See #1999. Check dates and look at graph. Souter leaves 1998. Souter retakes command 2002.

His sister was the driving force behind stagecoach. When she retired to her castle in the country the company started to decline.Every time he takes control the company always declines.

"Remember numb nut it was souter who ran this heap down to 4p then was shown the door"

I don't want to get involved in this little spat but that is factually incorrect. Souter stepped down from CEO role in 1998 and from then until 2002 (your "4p") it was run by others, with Souter stepping BACK into the CEO role in 2002. It was his decision to invest £13m at around 13p that convinced me of the turnaround and I followed him in. Very glad that I did! Despite weakness of the past few years, I have almost had all my money back from many Returns of Capital and dividends over the years and my current holding is probably free.

"When Sir Brian last stepped back from the business in 1998 it coincided with a period of profit warnings and a decline in share price and market capitalisation.

Initially Scottish Power's Mike Kinski was brought in as chief executive as the group tried to expand following the £750m acquisition of Coach USA.

However he lasted just two years before resigning and being replaced by Stagecoach's then finance director Keith Cochrane.

Mr Cochrane, now chief executive at Weir Group, resigned in July 2002, with Mr Souter becoming permanent chief executive in December of that year."

Emotional, I’m PMSL. at ur complete ignorance, I suspect you should stick to playing with the Fat Controller on ur Hornby train set Stevie, someone has to operate the network, but if the Govt. refuse to invest in the existing network and wish the private sector to run it, then they had better get their act together, otherwise let Corbyn have it back, and we’ll be back to a three day week, and a total collapse of the country! Have you not seen the overcrowding at peak times on these trains, more services would happen with an improved network!

Bookbroker you are an investor that cant accept the inevitable, souter is an unsuitable rail operator and will suffer as will you if you dont see the light and depart.

There are too many rail tracks in this country for NR. to actively maintain and improve properly, that is why the rail franchises are son many problems offering a proper service, the public blame the train operators, it is generally the standard of the tracks that is the issues and signalling, SGC are a very good operator, they are up against a bureaucratic, outdated and diabolical organisation that is preventing them from offering that service, East Coast a case in point, they should be compensated by the Govt. for the inability to carry out the service they wished to in the original franchise agreement, if the Govt. was concerned about their pitch, the amount they bid as being too high, they should have remarked upon, after all the track franchise has a history of issues going back twenty years. The Govt. is at fault with East Coast, the railways are operated for the public to use, not as a slush fund for the Govt. to fritter the money they receive in franchise payments, that £1bln. the Govt. has thus far received should have been spent on that network alone, but oh no, they are probably storing it up to waste on HS2!

Sgc are full of little tricks like, in manchester they run the metrolink, this has lots of breakdowns and is totally inefficient, so the sgc put on lots of sgc buses to fill in, sometimes for weeks on end. The point being the temporary bus service is not put out to tender, so how can the manchester ratepayers know they are getting value for money, that particular wheeze is a con.

An example of the pointlessness of some journeys, took a train last year from Harrogate to York, dilapidated two carriage job with Northern Rail, it would have been quicker on the bus, the journey took almost 40 minutes chugging along stopping at about six stations, the distance is less than twenty miles, these are pointless journeys, a bus service would have been more efficient, and the train was almost empty. These tracks are a distraction for Network Rail, watching three buffoons working on the platform digging a hole at one of the stations en route, they looked slovenly and disinterested in the work, you can tell by their gait, slothfully ambling along with no sense of purpose!

Yes in the town and a life member and until recently a fairly hefty shareholder at the Tigers.
I live just in North Yorks. Where are you?

I use Redmayne Bentley not the cheapest but always seem to do a great job for me often getting a penny or two either side

regards
Tiger
