27/3/2017 09:20 | You guys are right, barely a blip in the share price on that news. Very attractive yield and I'll carry on adding :-) | sawadee3
27/3/2017 09:18 | Was as I suspected that bad news was already in the price, but there are two more franchise renewals due later this year and the Bus Bill is bad news imho. | bscuit
27/3/2017 09:04 | >>Still think SGC is great value, but share price going to be under pressure for a while>> I reckon that's about right | zho
27/3/2017 09:01 | Looks to be ironed in, Mr mkt knows long before. | celeritas
27/3/2017 08:50 | I would delete you post above srichardson, now (to save face). Thght I would be right but needed to wait for news. Still think SGC is great value, but share price going to be under pressure for a while | wallywoo
27/3/2017 07:35 | Stagecoach Group plc ("Stagecoach") is disappointed that it has been unsuccessful in its bid for the new South Western rail franchise, which is due to commence in summer 2017. | zho
22/3/2017 15:18 | They will not lose the franchise which is pretty well run. If I am right it is also a share to hold in a market downturn. SW Trains are mostly providing commuter services to London. Demand does change over time with economic activity but the rate of change is slow and demand fairly inelastic. This is a big chunk of the business. Earnings are are fairly steady, valuations low. I reckon the surprises may anyway be on the upside. I would rather own this in a market crash than a small cap with volatile earnings and no market liquidity. | srichardson8
22/3/2017 13:33 | South West Trains director has recently moved jobs. Jumping ship before they loose the franchise contract perhaps? | wallywoo
21/3/2017 14:56 | Cheers wallywoo, i did expect it on the 8th but mine was delayed for some reason. Re-invested now :-) | sawadee3
21/3/2017 08:08 | nope bang on time, via tdw | wallywoo
20/3/2017 20:56 | I'm still here zho :-) Only just received my dividend payment today. Anyone else late getting theirs? | sawadee3
20/3/2017 15:34 | Bit of a spike up there! Any news, anyone? | m4rtinu
19/3/2017 19:13 | Looks like April for award of new contract. Which I take to mean new (renewed) franchise holder. | m4rtinu
17/3/2017 14:10 | hmm, 3rd time the share price has tested this level. Does make you wonder whether it may break lower. Doesn't the South Western rail franchise get announced soon?? To me the dividend is not under threat but WTFDIK | wallywoo
17/3/2017 11:00 | Chart looking ominous. Where's Sawadee when you need him? | zho
28/2/2017 11:22 | From Go-Ahead today. Well documented problems with S Rail. "Transport operator Go-Ahead, which owns 65% of the Southern franchise through Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), reported a drop in first-half pre-tax profit as operating profit from the rail division slumped due to strike action, and the company lowered its full-year expectations for the bus and rail divisions. For the six months to the end of December, pre-tax profit dropped to £67m from £75.9m the year before, as revenue edged up to £1.72bn from £1.67bn. Operating profit fell to £74.1m from £85.4m, with regional bus operating profit up 6.2% to £25.7m but rail operating profit down 35% to £26.9m, owing to losses at GTR and known bid costs." | m4rtinu
24/2/2017 13:17 | good luck Davros, not liking this downturn either. Keep thinking about FGP and what happened to them (ie debt going up, divis rising them bang they needed a deeply discounted rights issue, and current holders got screwed). Don't think that is likely here (since debt no where near where FGP was), but have a nagging doubt. Bgt in here just under £2 and just over topped up. It still looks good value in any downturn / recession, but will pull out too if this goes much under £2. | wallywoo
24/2/2017 12:21 | I sold out this morning as lost all momentum and turning down. If the market's going to go a bit soggy I want to be taking my weaker positions off the table. Just a very small loss so no damage done | davr0s
08/2/2017 14:16 | Noticed the Motely fool recommended this share yesterday, though the write up showed both sides: | wallywoo
07/2/2017 11:06 | Premier’s Chris White overweight Public transport firms :-) | sawadee3
06/2/2017 16:23 | Ex-div Thursday, I believe. Also, Sec of St for Transport on A Marr yesterday suggesting franchise model not fit for purpose. Any thoughts? | m4rtinu
20/1/2017 08:47 | Market was right to take advantage of last weeks mark-down :-) | sawadee3 |
