ONE SPPC HOLDING UP 60% TODAY

coldascheese

St Peter Port Capital hold 6,018,924 shares or 12.4% in llika (IKA)
this share has risen 60% today, what else do they hold that could go up this amount.
Share is dead cheap in my opinion and with all the IPO's planned this year should be rated far higher..

Held before. Thinking of re-entering... But I find the divi strategy too lumpy.....Big one, then nowt for years.... Shame they don't even out the divi's..... Or give more information on realisations so you can form a proper view of likely dividends going forward....

It's interesting to see the share price movement of Avanti Capital (AVA.L) after Eclectic Bars floated. One of AVA's two major investments.

Compare this to SPPC whom has 7 possible liquidity events lined up for 2014.

This could be quite a bonanza for SPPC shareholders. :-)

I find that the half yearly report has been filed in the wrong place on investegate.

Here's a link for future reference:

Thanks loobrush.

Email me at Marcel@Market-Swings.com and I'll see if I can send my SPPC post to you.

Nice statement today. If the markets hold up SPPC shareholders should do well in 2014.

I have gone for your E book liarspoker and also have been adding to my holding as this share in my opinion it should be at least 75p or higher. The sort of companies they invest in have recently shown considerable gains which should give a lift to St Peterports asset value.

I have added SPPC to the Market-Swings.com portfolio since my last post.

It's a no brainer really. Great balance sheet, several investments doing well, possible IPO of underlying investments (look what happenend to AVA),etc.

I'm seriously tempted to add a few more myself on Monday pre results.

Ben Graham defined a bargain stock as one with at least 50% upside so I guess that makes SPPC a bargain stock. ;-)

Half yearly update due between 13 th and 21 st December

-am expecting an increase in NAV up to 120 p
and
news of some IPO'S on their holdings.

This really cheap share could rocket on good news even now should be at least 75 p

massively undervalued

At least someone recognises the 110 p asset value-could be the start of the re rating that is well overdue

Well last week I put a few of these in my ISA in the hope that the value would eventually emerge.

The market may be reasonably "efficient" for larger companies but at the bottom end there are always opportunities and mispriced unfashionable equities, that should at some point come good.

There seems to be a large seller around.

The company should contact them to purchase the outstanding shares in order to cancel them.

I recently dug through equity funds with my mentorship clients and SPPC is definitely one of the cheaper ones on the market (especially with such a lean balance sheet).

The possible realisation of seven holdings for a higher value than they are carried for on the balance sheet is very interesting. Although a statement like that is a bit 'jam tomorrow' the discount to NAV more than makes up for that.

SPPC should be a company that does very well in today's market as it is dependend of various types of corporate activity. Perhaps we'll receive an early X-mas present.

Glad to see you are still in here, gingerplant. I have held for too long probably but it still looks good value.

This share will motor ahead in my opinion because most shares on the market have in the past year had good rises and now trade at premium prices and this is when previously overlooked shares such as st peterport catch up with the general market as value is sought.
In addition to this, it is evident that that the appetite for ipo,s has risen considerably and this presents the opportunity for the company to bring a number of their holding companies to the market.
So not only the cheapness of the share but the strong possibility that if they bring some of their holdings to the market they will achieve values greater than their stated book value and the asset value per share will also rise..I feel pretty confident that reasonably soon this share will also be picked up by one of the share or newspaper tipster and if that happens---whoosh.
Its starting to tick up now so my advice is get on board before any of this occurs.
As the company says "These offer the possibility of further large gains if progress continues as it has recently "

Slowly does it with SPPC

50% of returns of realisations to shareholders in the coming years. Its in the annual report.

this is a snippet of the forethcoming

There have been many other significant developments in the portfolio during the year. Each of Astrakhan Oil, Brazil Potash, Buried Hill, Global Atomic Fuels, Manabi, Seven Energy, and Union Agriculture look ripe for exit in the near future. These seven holdings are currently being carried at £23.7 million. If they were to achieve exits for us, we would expect them to be at a PREMIUM to current carrying values.
Activity and Prospects
Our principal focus is to keep close to the companies in our portfolio where we can assist in bringing forward the crystallisation of value. Where we consider further investment, it is almost always in companies which, as existing shareholders, we know well, and where the terms are highly attractive.
The portfolio continues to develop well and many of the companies in it have added significantly to their value during our investment period. We fully expect that process to continue. The timing of our exits will depend upon market conditions and opportunities arising, but we are encouraged by the progress made by companies in the portfolio such as Red Flat Nickel, Astrakhan Oil, Brazil Potash and Global Atomic. These offer the possibility of further large gains if progress continues as it has recently.

cheers

The discount may narrow but there is no reason to expect fireworks in the short term. However, loobrush may have a reason with which he can enlighten us all.
