01/12/2015 10:10 | Well, deadly, the company is spending more (acquiring) and selling less (retaining) in order to maximise income streams. I guess that's not the short-termist's Christmas. For us long-termers we can look forward to many Christmas's. | solomon
01/12/2015 09:59 | ...and the price is down again. What does it take to get this share moving up? | deadly
01/12/2015 09:37 | Solomon I can only endorse your comment and add that management is doing a first class job. red | redartbmud
01/12/2015 09:28 | Trading update is on the company website. Ends with: " The success of all these activities throughout 2015 has culminated in our anticipation of record profits for the business for the financial year, whilst positioning us well for the future." | solomon
25/11/2015 17:07 | Good news from the chancellor regarding house construction. SMP are in some kind of partnership with Persimon, if I remember correctly. Yesterday there was a trade of 1,567,670 shares. Trade price was 433 when the offer was 427. So, desperate to get £6.8m invested even at a premium. | solomon
23/10/2015 09:56 | Stock filters are a useful tool to identify candidates for in-depth investigation but I always go back to the company accounts to really understand what is going on. PER's don't mean much in the case of property companies such as this where the P&L account is distorted by (potentially large) swings arising from the annual valuation of assets. Other things you may care to look at are the NAV (the shares trade at a significant premium to the value of the underlying assets, so you are buying some of the future development gains) and cashflow. Don't get me wrong, this is a great company (and I have a significant holding), but not as cheap as is implied by the last post. | jeffian
22/10/2015 18:55 | Added here today.I ran a new stock screen on the IC on line tool with a filter for P/E ratios under 10.SMP comes with a p/e of 4. | bluerunner

05/10/2015 11:34 | Useful info. Thanks Peaeff. | bluerunner
05/10/2015 10:25 | Good morning all. I have just contacted company head office and am informed that there will be no IMS this year but they will be releasing a trading update at the end of December. I expect that most MAJOR shareholders would have been made aware of this, which could account for the lack of excitement recently. regards | peaeff
02/10/2015 11:32 | The update may not be a mandatory requirement but surely it's a good thing in terms of investor relations.Otherwise we are largely reliant on financial press coverage which is a bit random. I'm hoping for something soon.I'm quite committed here and have also taken advantage of the recent dip. I intend to hold for med-long term but an update every 6 months can't be too much to ask for. | bluerunner
02/10/2015 09:30 | Sorry. Confused.com I am trying to update my facts on both Smp & Clln, the latter normally reporting a trading update in early Oct. The rules have changed and it is no longer mandatory. red | redartbmud
02/10/2015 09:20 | Shanklin I have also been checking. I just looked at Hargreaves for 8 Oct and Clln is not listed for that date. | redartbmud
02/10/2015 09:05 | Will there be an IMS this year? SMP do not highlight key dates on their web-site and AIUI, there is no longer an obligation for fully listed companies to issue IMSs... ...albeit I think this is a very unfortunate regulatory change. | shanklin
02/10/2015 08:56 | Construction companies are out of sorts at present, and Smp is no different in that respect. As long as they come out with results in line then i would expect to see some recovery in the Sp. Just my opinion, of course. | redartbmud
02/10/2015 08:51 | This could do with an update sooner rather than later just to underpin the price and a new upward trend. The outlook appears to be very good according to previous reports. Also IC's growth tip of the year as others have noted. | bluerunner
29/9/2015 11:06 | usually on 1st of Oct. This share can move very quickly at certain times but, as with most shares at present, it seems to be following market forces as opposed to the bullish nature of the half year figures. | peaeff
29/9/2015 10:51 | When exactly is the IMS? | deadly
29/9/2015 10:32 | For IC's growth tip of the year, this will have to bounce a lot to justify it. | deadly
28/9/2015 11:15 | If the IMS is good this week, and there's no known reason why it shouldn't be, I'm sure you'll be glad you have. GLA | peaeff
25/9/2015 16:41 | High volume today. I've probably bought too many over the last week but I'm looking to keep them long term. | solomon
22/9/2015 11:07 | Solomon - I am also tempted at these levels. Now 2 weeks to news.SMP share price has been struggling of late but so have many others in this market. However, this has to be a decent med-long term opportunity. This is IC's growth tip of the year. | bluerunner
15/9/2015 15:19 | 3 weeks to the Interim Management Statement, low volume, falling share price To me this says have some readies ready. | solomon
01/9/2015 09:16 | Very pleasing start to the week especially in light of the FTSE today. Almost tempted to take a quick profit but will ride the wave for now. GLA | peaeff
