16/5/2018 10:30 | - SSP Group, which operates food and beverage outlets at travel locations, posted a large rise in first-half profit after higher passenger volumes at airports helped boost sales. Pre-tax profit rose 47% to £43.4m, while revenue rose 9.8% to £1.12bn. Like-for-like sales grew 2.8%: driven by air passenger travel and retail initiatives, the company said. SSP declared an interim dividend of 4.8p share, up 5% on-year. 'Looking forward, the second half has started in line with our expectations and whilst a degree of uncertainty always exists around passenger numbers in the short term, we continue to be well placed to benefit from the structural growth opportunities in our markets and our programme of operational improvements,' chief executive Kate Swann said. | broadwood |
