Dividends next week 66p. Plus looks like demerging the business will go through soon . If there is no political upheavals then we should have a nice run up.

Which won't help share price here as more uncertainty and Corbyn spectre appearing again.

Back from work and caught up now!
I suspect Boris has left the door wedged open and the heat will drive TM out before long.

Is he holding the door open for Theresa or has he already gone through? (not read the news this afternoon!)

just had a quick check, actually done better than that as I didn't realise the value was so much lower 10 years ago!

if I had had a 20% uplift and ~5% divi per year = > 70% return + compounding on my entire portfolio over the last 10 years I would be quite happy although I appreciate there are no guarantees going forwards

topvest - Yes, have halved my holding, also held for 10 years. The yield is important to me, if MergeCo. don't pay any divi I shall have to dump them. In fact my portfolio is due an adjustment as ISAT might go any time soon and one or two others need looking at.

I'm out of these at my £14 price target. Held for nearly 10 years and only 20% higher. Obviously a good yield, but looks a potential value trap going forward. They are certainly not creating much value at all.

Don't see how it can be a mandatory action if it requires shareholder approval

FWIW I received this notification from my broker this morning:
'Spin-Off SSE@LSE
SSE@LSE (Name: SSE PLC) announced a spin-off effective 20180719. The terms of the spin-off are 1 : 1. Please note that this action is a mandatory action.'

I'm quoting this here as I don't see this mentioned in the info in the headers^. It appears to supersede this above^: 'Completion of this transaction is subject to necessary shareholder and regulatory approvals'

Up 9p first thing closed down 2p . I’m hoping for a run up to x div on the 26th. It’s a decent pay out so let’s see

Whatever the semantics I agree they will aim to pay a dividend and with the likely cost savings from the combined entity believe this should be quite possible.

I see it as a straight demerger from SSS point of view but taking on Npowers struggling retail side to preserve jobs and the outcry which might have arisen with a sale of the retail business.

...and year end March 2018 finished over 3 months ago so no anticipation required there! For performance of MergeCo once formed we will need to wait and see, no doubt there will be some synergies and economies of scale as well as personnel cost savings or why bother with a merger of interests? If just to get rid of the bad bits a straight demerger or sale would have sufficed.

If SSE could make around £220m from their retail sidelast year then with them owning 2/3 of the NEWCO surely they will make it profitable and look to pay a dividend
