Hmm I'm not sure about the CFD route you end up with masses of gearing should something go wrong. Have a look at an ENG chart. They dropped hugely just before liquidation. Any PI CFD's at that time would have made a loss or worse.

Why can'nt you do CFD's?

buying by a cfd appears a clever route - wish i could do that!

firm hold on sr. if the opportunity set of 5% is not to be sniffed at in my view. i for one am not that good at finding things that will get me that kind of head start on the market.... also over 2 to 3 months not a bad irr!

i think the vote is somewhat irrelevant as sr are proposing wind up or roll over option.

lol, thanks Skyship. I dont hold any MTH though. The share holders there are too passive for me. As you can see been watching for some time but not for me at the moment.

The discount is a good feature but what could close the gap and when?

I like CG Asset Management who are on the register. Edit and have held CGT so have held MTH on a look through basis.

Hah! Duly embarrassed....clearly MTH is your sort of stock as I now see that you started the thread there back in 2010. One of those marvellously silent threads which tends to indicate value off the radar.

Praipus - might I perhaps suggest MTH. The highly respected Trojan Fund (see below) have just upped their stake - RNS today. Rambutan, who knows a thing or two about the Private Equity world, suggests MTH to be a good value play - see his comments on the APEF thread. Could be your sort of stock. Certainly one for me, building on recent success in the PE sector.

As a buyer at todays price you could wait the 100 days or so for the AGM "continuation vote" and if there is a cash option and NAV were to stay where it is now pick up 5.44% no exit dealing costs or spread.

Of course something could go wrong, NAV go south or company shareholders vote for continuation.

As an entirely dispassionate non-holder I would say - could go higher, could go lower; and you wouldn't buy SR. purely as a play on the Euro. No, right to move on surely...

Maybe so, could the NAV go higher still? FX effect?

Surely nothing left in this now - certainly not for any newbie; and existing holders might well do better elsewhere. A selection on the PE thread. Best buys APEF & LMS perhaps.

Thanks dendria interesting article. Weiss seems to be in the press a bit at the moment it almost makes me suspicous after years of near silence. I wonder who commissioned it.

probably a long only broker taking it off the buy list and an arb picking up a free lunch of 6% would be my guess.
