25/7/2017 09:25 | And I wouldn't actually say it was good results. Don't get me wrong I believe profits can rise on dollar earnings alone and rising revenue shows the business has a product/format people still desired which is a massive positive for a tetailwr, but it if difficult to have good forward visibility regarding profits. It's true worth is hard to assess. | terminated
25/7/2017 09:12 | Cash management sir. Nothing goes up in a straight line . | nortic 007
25/7/2017 09:04 | I do not understand why much of the SPD fan base on here sold on results day even as they cheered the results. Surely the results underscored a volte face in sentiment backed by very reasonable fundamentals. Buying good results and selling bad ones is surely the way to go. Not the other way around. SPD has has had 7 times as much growth in turnover as Next has had over the last 2 years - up 14% to Next's paltry 2%. What has held this back over the last 2-3 years has been bad press surrounding everything and anything to do with the founder. Meanwhile in the midst of this firestorm of bad PR the underlying business has been quietly growing. | undervaluedassets
25/7/2017 07:22 | I know the Goldmans change of stance from sell to hold was pointed out the other day but I didn't know they had upped their target price to 350 from 260 overnight . I'm always sceptical about any GS analysis. They are not the firm they used to be and when they say jump people don't tend to listen as they would have done in years gone by . | nortic 007
25/7/2017 05:56 | Rimmy 2000MorningSo far they have bought 108m shares and as it stands they still haven't been cancelled which does seem rather peculiar. Take a look at the last share buyback RNS and it all should be pretty self explanatory. If SPD had managed to do the full purchase (135m) then there would be 175m shares in free float which is not taking into account the top 3 institutional holders so that could go as low as 125m give or take a million here or there. The paper profit on the purchases shares works out at something like 10-12p a share if he were to pay a dividend but that would be a pipe dream as far as we the shareholder is concerned .This all culminates in a stock that will swing wildly because there is very little stock in circulation.SPD seemed to do particular well yesterday considering how badly the markets performed and also the fact that the retail sector was so bad and that includes the US and especially FInish Line which closed down 6.5%.Should get a small bounce back today do let's hope SPD can extend their gains. | nortic 007
24/7/2017 16:12 | can someone explain how and when the buyback effect will kick in? are these already excluded from the free float figure or do they get annulled at a later date? (sorry for my lack of knowledge on this item) | rimmy2000
24/7/2017 14:13 | "in what" indeed! Even Goldman now inline with other brokers. Going to surprise to the upside. Newsflow going to lift this +50p at a time now imo. | kmann
24/7/2017 12:46 | See that movement in SPD . A bit of profit taking and then straight back up in why is a very weak FTSE 250.Impressive !!! | nortic 007
24/7/2017 11:30 | The 'regret' sellers of the past few days will be taking a look at any retrace. Will be volatile but the idea that this company is any kind of trouble has been firmly squashed by recent results. This is a growing enterprise with large ambitions. from a technical point of view as well we have seen a blow off bottom on large volumes | undervaluedassets |
