22/5/2018 09:53 | yes, events have moved along this year. The Federal legislation is now certain and the State-level opportunities for Sportech in the near-term are well understood. What we don't know is the price the SPO Board are looking for? | nod
22/5/2018 09:34 | Such a simple TO for someone. Things will surely speed up rapidly in the next few weeks/months | trentendboy
22/5/2018 05:19 | New York Times article Two mentions of Sportech and both promising. The State officials support Sportech's involvement in sports betting and the tribes want to include Sportech in their own negotiations. Indian Tribes Dig In to Gain Their Share of Sports Betting "State officials disagree. Proposed legislation would allow the two tribes, the Connecticut Lottery Corporation, and Sportech, which operates off-track betting parlors in the state, to offer sports betting." "Kevin Brown “Red Eagle,” chairman of the Mohegan Tribe in Connecticut, said that in the interest of expedience, he and his organization were at least willing to include the Connecticut Lottery Corporation and Sportech, the other two entities included in proposed sports betting legislation in the state, in negotiations." | nod

19/5/2018 10:47 | Very nice share price recovery | trentendboy
16/5/2018 03:54 | There's a high probability that the partner Sportech referred to for sports betting is William Hill. Sportech can use a white label product with Hills doing the sports book and probably Playtech supplying the technology. We should hear soon. | nod

15/5/2018 19:49 | Sportech is not exposed to FOBT and is unaffected by any UK government regulations in that space. Bookmakers have this hanging over them and retraced today, while SPO is the only strong gain in gambling sector.Hills Chairman has warned U.K. Gov that changes could put them at risk of takeover as well as job losses.www.morningst | nod
15/5/2018 01:37 | Sportech already operates in 37 of the USA States. | nod

14/5/2018 20:46 | Sportech has been working towards legalised sports betting in some US States for at least two years. Recently, Sportech announced "The Board anticipates announcing the launch of a Sportsbook utilising a reputable third-party vendor in H1-2018." SPO has withdrawn from California closing down its sports bar in San Diego and taking a loss on a large building it owns a lease on. Focus will be on Connecticut and New Jersey, who are likely to be among the first to legalise sports betting. | nod
14/5/2018 18:47 | BoomSports bars will fly now.Well positioned and clearly a much more viable TO target | trentendboy
08/5/2018 17:39 | Another step towards becoming a North American company. "Aligning with the shift in senior management from the UK to North America, Tom will be based in the Group's Toronto office alongside Group CEO Andrew Gaughan." | nod
25/4/2018 20:52 | Bank of America sold between 6% and 9% on 19th which explains where HSBC got its shares from.Major holders are reshuffling after termination of offer negotiations. | nod
24/4/2018 21:11 | HSBC has come from nowhere to appear with a 5% holding. I don't recall seeing them during the compulsory disclosures, so they may have only recently acquired the whole lot. | nod
23/4/2018 06:44 | A few bob in the bank is handy, not sure how much they have given away for nowt in the sale though. | o1dsmokie

19/4/2018 07:58 | Nice little spike up, presume buyers of the company getting comfortable again so hopefully a bid isnt too far away.... | finkie
03/4/2018 02:54 | Legislators bet on sports and online gambling to increase state revenues By Emilie Munson Published 6:42 pm, Monday, April 2, 2018 Connecticut could generate approximately $100 million in tax revenues over the first five years of legalization, predicted New Haven-based wagering company Sportech. But Sportech and others questioned whether 15 percent was the best rate to support both the state and a legal industry. “At this level of taxation, it will be difficult for the legal operators to price the sports betting offerings to compete with the existing black market,” said Dan Shapiro, vice president of Strategy and Business Development for sports betting company William Hill US, which operates in Nevada — the only state where such betting is now legal — and internationally. A Supreme Court ruling that would open sports betting to other states is widely expected by summer. | nod
30/3/2018 23:21 | The issue here are not the impairments, as these were small compared with last year's huge mpairments, but these don't affect earnings and are one-off adjustments. The issue is the EBITDA forecast is far lower than last year after taking out Football. EBITDA last year from the two Sportech units - Racing and Venues - was 12.1 million. "the Board now anticipates that adjusted EBITDA*, a non-IFRS measure, is expected to be below expectations at around GBP6.5 million and includes a series of accounting corrections including write-downs of old stocks and doubtful debtors." | nod

30/3/2018 07:56 | Interesting price movement. Certainly fell too low following he no TO newsGood recovery but missed buying the lows | trentendboy
30/3/2018 00:33 | Hemings went below 3% after the cash distribution from VAT and Football Pools. He owned 17% last March. It's interesting that he just sold his last 2.7% at only 44p - this suggests he didn't think it was worth staying around waiting for more. He could have got 55p a few days later. The Football Pools was what he invested into 18 years ago. It is a cash cow with huge margins and big profits from only 101 staff. We are now a US-based business, with overseas operations, such as The Netherlands and U.K. I think the primary business in the UK now is operating the Tote for Betfred. From the last AR, March 2017:"We are licensed by gaming regulators in 28 US States.""The expansion of our customer base follows the successful installation of our Quantum Tote system for Betfred in the UK, which now processes all Tote bets on live UK Racing from all UK domestic and international sources. Licensing and software maintenance services also continue to be supplied under this contract. Importantly, we completed the delivery of a project to enable Betfred and its full UK wagering network currently connected into their Quantum Betfred system (including all major UK LBOs and key online partners), to bet directly into the Hong Kong Jockey Club pools. We have also delivered a similar solution for others internationally including the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, and will watch the growth of this new business stream closely. " | nod |
