They mentioned it could become a takeover target. Which probably means a profits warning is around the corner.

Given its underlying financial performance there does seem an inevitability about the share price of SPT revisiting its 2009 lows of around 35p. And even at such a comparatively lowly share price SPT may at best be fairly valued.

But as its share price is ground lower, it would not be surprising for rumours of bid interest surrounding SPT to begin to materialise. If history is a guide then there may be choppy share price action if the 55p level is attained.

Noteworthy that the quarterly FTSE reviews are conducted on valuations at the market close on 3 December.

Don't forget that they will be relegated from the FTSE 250 in December so that will add further short term pressure to the share price
The management seem to have consistently failed to read the changing market place and always seem to be "caught out " which means they have little credibility.

I still feel very optimistic for Spirent's long term future. They have a ton of cash in the bank, they're involved in testing cloud computing, 'internet of things' networking, mobile phone communication (4G/lte) as well as loads of other exciting stuff. At some point in the next few years I'm sure those great profit margins will return, and in the mean time SPT shares can be bought for less half the price they were 18 months ago.
Seems like the perfect time to tuck a few more away for when the good times are back.

The 20% fall today looks an overreaction when you look at the profits warning. Can anyone suggest why the fall is so large?

SG post 2245
'Pro I have no idea what you are talking about, this has legs to go up to 120 very easily, I sold for my own reasons. for your information the outlook had been said, late single digit growth and this is trading cheaper than it's peers and at 25x future earnings it's a cheap stock. If the numbers were not strong why the 8% upside today lol.'

How do you feel now SG? You seem to have gone missing

Is patience finally paying? Time will tell. The graphs look good on this stock. Oversold conditions are improving (RSI is trending up), MACD up and volume looks good. Any technical analysts on here? Fundamentalists, are things improving for the company? But this is the stock market..anythign can happen
