Velocity Lab as a Service Platform Completely Automates FiberHome’s Testbed Setup, Reducing Setup Time by Over 90%

Spirent Communications plc (LSE:SPT), a leading provider of Lab as a Service (LaaS) solutions, today announced the successful deployment of its Velocity Lab as a Service platform by FiberHome, a global leader in optical communications equipment. In a typical week, FiberHome sets up hundreds of testbeds in its networking test labs. Velocity has completely automated FiberHome’s testbed setup process, reducing setup time from over a week to a matter of minutes. With Velocity, FiberHome can verify and release new optical networking equipment significantly faster while simultaneously improving product quality.

FiberHome’s legacy testbed setup process had unique complexities, with multiple devices under test and a variety of test instruments and configurations. This caused the testbed setup process to take longer than the time required to run the actual tests. FiberHome concluded the only solution was to automate their lab operations. Spirent Velocity was selected due to its demonstrated ability to completely automate testbed setup, enabled by tight integration with FiberHome’s existing test platforms and equipment.
