@vatpaul

I think you're getting Sosandar (SOS) muddled up with Eve Sleep (EVE)

Sosandar sells fashionable clothing for women aged 35-55.

Eve Sleep sells mattresses to students, who send them back for a 100% refund at the end of term, apparently.

Paul.

One of the reasons for the scorn around SOSO listing is its brass-necked £20m listing valuation for an online retailer that made just £0.4m in sales and £3m in losses. By my calc it also has to fork out £800 in marketing to acquire every new customer but the average order is only worth £50, meaning that it costs the company £16 for every £1 of sales.

An extra pressure on its bottom line is that around 60pc of all its mattress orders are returned.

@kMann,

I most certainly did NOT "pump & dump" QUIZ, as you wrongly allege.

This is what I wrote about QUIZ before it floated - as you can see, it was very balanced, and included my concerns about certain aspects of the float -

By characterising this as "pump & dump" you are being untruthful.

My conclusion on 6 Jul 2017 in that article was;

My opinion - In conclusion, I've decided that on balance, I reckon this is likely to be a successful float. I do have some reservations though, as noted above. Despite this, I'll probably apply for some stock in the placing. I think the IPO is arguably somewhat opportunistic - with a valuation that looks toppy, based on associating the company with BooHoo's business model, when in reality they're not really particularly similar, and Quiz's online operation is tiny compared with BooHoo. However, there's such strong market demand for online growth companies, that the over-valuation might be justified maybe? I'd much rather invest in something profitable, and run by experienced rag traders, than some loss-making, cash burning pile of junk like Koovs for example.

I had a 5 minute chat with the FD afterwards, who strikes me as a safe pair of hands. "Every company should have a Scottish FD!" as my broker quipped to me. There's obviously mutual respect between him & the founder + son management team.

I mentioned Stockopedia to the FD, and gave him my Stockopedia business card. I also emphasised how important it is for newly floated companies to nurture a private shareholder following, to boost liquidity & narrow the spread. The trouble with new floats is that they're usually done via a placing of large blocks of shares to institutions, hence immediately run into illiquidity problems.

Overall though, a cautious thumbs up from me, for Quiz.

They're here because TW stole their pocket money at school... they now spend their bitter filled days running down shares that TW invests in. You'd think they'd be more interested in making money :)

is PP going to dump after the pump like he did with QUIZ?

if Spreadex have done their numbers correct, they bought shares to loan out to short sellers. So they see this as a sell.

richjp,

I think my wife fits bang into the demographic they are aiming at. 40s to 50s, own home, kids on cusp of leaving home or have left home, not yet retired - so two incomes into household, health conscious and likes clothes that look good.

My wife first bought stuff from them about six months ago and since then she's been badgering me to buy shares in them, as she really likes what they're doing and hasn't seen anything similar previously.

I agree that the target market is the more mature lady - but I'm not sure I agree with the 'larger lady' statement. (My wife is 5'9" and a size 10). Whilst they sell a range of sizes and larger ladies can buy larger sizes - I don't think that's the primary audience. Meijiman is spot on, IMHO. This is MILF territory.

Cheers,
PJ

Think this is MILF territory! The seriously large might chose something like Scarlett &Jo.
