Fair enough tournesol, but he did make it clear that he was pretty sure that wasn't an issue!

to be fair, what I think I heard PW say was that the flow rate was commercial but we need to confirm that the volume of the resource is commercial. That means we need the CPR, so still a little previous to say "it will prove commercial"

Its interesting what he said in that interview he said the well wanted to give more. This is great news hoping over the coming days and week this will rerate.Flow rates are excellent and the volume of the structure will prove to be commercial.

Bought three times today (different accounts) and each one has been below the mid price and reported as a sell. Clearly there's a seller which is why the share price move has been modest. Useful chance to accumulate with risks clearly lower than they were last week.

commercial rate and we believe it will be commercial volume, that's good enough for me...

SD will start to get valued in share price now...

I'm same, think HUR is great but probably going a bit lower by the looks of things. Sdx is a great place to be though

It seems this is a place for those disappointed by events at HUR.

FWIW, I now have 8.5% in SDX, having freed up some cash by selling out of HUR.

interesting tournesol; I made a similar partial switch a while ago intended to reduce risk as I had become overweight in hur

IMHO today's news means that we are entitled to draw the conclusion - albeit unofficially - that SD-1X is commercial.

Management said at the AGM that they expected it to be commercial but needed to test in order to confirm that.

Today they said that testing has exceeded their expectations.

1+1=2

Taking that in conjunction with the previous comment, can really only mean one thing, it seems to me.

Of course they stopped just short of an official declaration of commerciality, but I think it is possible to overdo the caution. It is hard to envisage circumstances in which SD-1X will turn out to be non-commercial

Today's restrained price action is the market offering a terrific opportunity for people to load up at a significantly improved risk/reward ratio.

I had already exceeded my 5% maximum but recently switched my 5% holding in Hurricane, so I'm now around 12% in SDX. Otherwise I'd be buying more. In fact I still might…...

thomasthetank1,

Thanks! Like this bit;

"In our opinion, this is an exceptionally strong initial flow rate from the recent gas discovery, and SDX will look to test the lower Cretaceous oil system"

Encouraging.

Hi guys - thought you might like to see WH Ireland and Cenkos Securities positive take on this morning's announcement.

WH Ireland

SDX Energy (SDX LN) – SD-1X Flow Rate
The SD-1X well at South Disouq, Egypt (SDX 55% & operator) flowed dry natural gas at a stabilised rate of 25.8 MMscf/d (4,300 boe/d) on a 48/64" choke, and was limited by the surface facilities. The well has now been shut in for an initial build-up after which a series of additional flowing periods will be conducted and fluid samples taken. SDX will now aim to bring the discovery into commercial production as soon as possible. In our opinion, this is an exceptionally strong initial flow rate from the recent gas discovery, and SDX will look to test the lower Cretaceous oil system. The shares in Canada closed +10% (to the equiv. of 61.4p) following the news.

Cenkos Securities

SDX Energy ↑ (SDX.L, 56.75p, £106m) said the flow test of the SD-1X well at South Disouq in Egypt flowed at 25.8mmcfd on a restricted choke. This strong performance exceeded mgmt. expectations, and supports view that the discovery is commercial. Planning has commenced to bring the well onto production. This is a significant step forward for SDX, and opens a new basin for development. The discovery will add substantial new resources to the company, and there is still nearby oil potential given the discovery of a working oil system in the deeper cretaceous interval (albeit not commercial at SD-1X). Positive

Rich73,

There are gas treatment facilities in this Abu-madi Baltim trend, used by others including BP, ENI, Dana etc, liquids are separated prior to gas sales:

20-07-2015

"The new discovery (Nooros) will be put into production in two months’ time through a tie-in to the existing Abu Madi gas treatment plant, located 25 kilometers south-east.

Eni, through its subsidiary Ieoc Production BV, holds a 75% of working interest in the West Abu Madi development lease, with BP as a partner with 25%. Petrobel, equally owned by Ieoc (50%) and EGPC (50%), is the operator of the concession"

Look, it's all a bit irrelevant if a few buys and sells are reported incorrectly. The fundamental fact is that the market makers set the price to match the number of buyers and sellers, and on the whole, they are very good at it. So, whilst 90% of people on here, including me, probably think that SDX is screaming buy at this price, the fact remains that 50% of the whole investing community thinks it's a sell. Astonishing in some ways. Perhaps we know more than them. I guess it needs people like Malcy and some annalists to point them in the right direction. However, when the share does eventually rerate, the buyers, like me, will be very grateful that the misguided sellers held the price down for now, allowing us to top up at a bargain price.Xylos

tgg,

Spot on. They will already have a good idea about condensates but fluid samples will confirm definitively and therefore any information release on such should rightly come after sampling. I suspect the RNS was to quickly release information on a successful flow test before any leaks to the market during further testing.
I am taking dry gas to mean not water saturated so surface dew pointing (maybe) not required before injection into pipeline. This raises a point; can anyone enlighten as to whether there is a central facility downstream in the network for gas conditioning / condensate extraction, or do we need to build facilities at SD?

If you look at the chart, although it's trajectory is upward, there are many little dips. So who cares what happens in the short term as long as all is going to plan?

No paulie this will continue on it's upward trajectory and continue to re-rate especially once full testing has been completed and we get a CPR on SD and the wider South Disouq area which has been massively derisked by this first well.

Unfortunately though this is Aim and folk would rather go chasing the next overnight bagger that is probably going to disappoint on Mgt hubris than keep invested in a solid company like this.

One of the things I disagree with PW about is a move to the main list.
