As I explained before, it is Europe which is proving to be the region of interest rather than China.

Ali - I'd be surprised if it's not 'trading in line' and then some detail around it. That's fine with me if it is

Good to see SOM recommended so highly by Jupiter's fund manager as follows:

"Fund manager focus: James Zimmerman
25 Aug 2017

Jupiter smaller companies fund manager James Zimmerman explains how investments in enterprises that generate non-sterling revenues and profits have boosted his fund"

"The second stock Zimmerman mentioned is Somero Enterprises. He remarked, ‘Somero Enterprises, which is up 128 per cent in the past 12 months, is a US-focused manufacturer of concrete-levelling machinery and was also among the strongest-performing positions over the past two years.

‘Somero has a 99 per cent market share globally in the leading concrete-laying technology, and after recently meeting with the company in Florida, I was impressed by the strength of its ongoing new product development, as well as the strength and longevity of its customer relationships with contractors that buy its equipment both in the US and the rest of the world.’"

Everybody should have had it by now. If it's not in your account by the close of play on Monday, complain.

mfhmfh - how much did you get per share? I am also with iWeb, and had 30% withholding tax deducted so ended up with 7.09p per share. iWeb told me it was not possible to claim any of the tax back because Somero are traded through CREST.

I am inclined to agree with item#2 of post 1280 -

- that much of the steepened rise in the past 6 months has been based on anticipation of a construction boom to be instigated by Trump - which has not so far materialised. Easing back into its previous trendline is something I am ok with.

Some brokers hold the dividend in a separate dollar account and the investors needs to convert to sterling oneself, I don't use Selftrade but might be worth checking.

It is worth remembering that Somero have been affected by adverse weather in the US before, on 8th April 2014 in their full year results they cautioned about a slow start to the year because of cold weather. By the AGM statement in May the situation have improved strongly as delayed contracts were giving a boost, and then the next trading update in July 2014 confirmed that they would be comfortably ahead. After which the share price advance strongly.

A similar situation to this year which gives confidence to myself that management are trustworthy, the outlook statement will be interesting next month for the USA which is 70% of groups revenue.

Agree Graham that the share price did advance quickly above the recent trend, so a period of consolidation was to be expected and also a healthy occurrence.

I agree with you Graham - the downbeat AGM statement pulled the price back and while the more positive trading update in July reversed this we have had the summer period of very light trading volumes in which small caps frequently drift off.

The recent comments on here all make eminent sense, but I do wonder if you are looking too deeply into the recent share price weakness.

IMO the rise between March and May this year was somewhat excessive based on the company's immediate potential, especially as too much expectation was placed on the Trump infrastructure boom as this was never going to have any significant impact on Somero's specialist market.

A retrace was inevitable (particularly given the slightly downbeat trading update) and that has been pushed further with the special dividend coming out of the price.

PS Mind you the sudden fall mid-morning today was a little unnerving!

Hi adamB1978True - I don't have a breakdown of revenue by state either, which is why I'm giving Somero the benefit of the doubt.Perhaps it's worthwhile just rehearsing the other issues facing Somero.1) China - I do have sympathy with Somero over their long-standing inability to break into the Chinese market. As I understand it from their presentation, there are two factors at play. First, there is understandable frustration by Somero over a lack of consistent regulation/specification by the Chinese on their construction projects - therefore, it is difficult and expensive for Somero to invest in a product that serves the Chinese market. Secondly, whilst Somero's USP is to increase productivity by laying concrete quickly and highly accurately, there is a genuine commercial barrier for Somero to overcome. This is: is it more cost effectivefor the Chinese to lay concrete the conventional way using China's abundant cheap labour supply at the risk that laying such concrete is not as accurate, as opposed to using Somero's highly accurate but expensive machines?2) I acknowledge that another big plus for Somero is their investment in the wrap-around service they provide, as demonstrated by their "school" in Florida. Somero themselves recognise that, to maintain their "moat", they need to provide the excellent after-sales support that their rivals can not provide because Somero's machines can be reverse-engineered and copied (thus putting their "moat" at peril). So, this is all good stuff! So, given that Somero's fundamentals remain rock solid and taking all these issues together, the future would appear to be bright for Somero, particularly if they crack 1) and exploit 2). The "soft" share price is therefore somewhat surprising unless, in my opinion, there are short-term factors at play - i.e. the NKorea/US stand-off and/or lack of clarity on Trump's infrastructure plans. I also do not want to see any weather-related excuses, either!Regards

Trump is squaring for a trade war with China. Being a US company trying to build a footprint there, Somero might be perceived to have an increased risk profile, in light of this.
