20/7/2017 10:46 | Nice: "19 Jul 2017 James Zimmerman, who runs the Jupiter UK Smaller Companies fund has revealed the UK small caps on which he is keen to invest right now." "The second stock he mentioned is Somero Enterprises. He said, ‘Somero Enterprises, which is up 128 per cent in the past twelve months, (is) a US-focused manufacturer of concrete levelling machinery, was also among the strongest performing positions over the past two years. Somero has a 99% market share globally in the leading concrete-laying technology, and after recently meeting with the company in Florida, I was impressed by the strength of its ongoing new product development, as well as the strength and longevity of its customer relationships with contractors that buy its equipment both in the US and the rest of the world.’" | rivaldo
18/7/2017 18:02 | Bought back in today. Thought the statement read very positive. | cfro
18/7/2017 11:09 | Favourable write up on Stockopedia this morning by Paul Scott. | panic investor
18/7/2017 09:26 | Middle East would also be affected by an earlier Ramadan this year. | deanowls
18/7/2017 08:55 | Bought back in here today. After the AGM statement in June which highlighted flat trading in the the US due to weather conditions, I have been waiting for confirmation that the situation is improving which has been confirmed today. It is important because the US make up 70% of revenue. Worth remembering that SOM reported in April 2014 weather delays in North America due to a very cold winter, yet also reported that March was much stronger, this was followed by ahead statements in May and June. I believe this is a similar situation today, SOM have a quality management team that would only express a view of an improved situation in H2 if they were confident that this is likely to be the case. | interceptor2
18/7/2017 08:49 | Finncap this morning retain their 350p price target. North America has recovered nicely from the caution shown in the previous trading statement. The Middle East is relatively small beer, but its delays will benefit H2. China is also currently small beer, but similarly was improved in June and now looking better. Above all, anyone who's met the management and is aware of SOM's reporting style over the years will know there is no "spin" in their RNS's. As shown by their prior caution over trading in the USA, which turned out to be premature, readers can take SOM's RNS's as they find them without hidden meanings. | rivaldo
18/7/2017 08:10 | Carcosa, there was a presentation by management about a month ago, I think on PIworld, which addressed well the concerns you raise | qvg
18/7/2017 07:51 | Deleted duplicate post | carcosa
14/7/2017 19:59 | Tomps2 - Forecasts are on Stockopedia, showing 28c for 2017 and 29c for 2018 (eps normalised). | mrx001
14/7/2017 12:34 | MrX001 - which FY18 forecasts are you looking at? I can only find finnCap forecasts till FY17. PTP up 19% and EPS up 16%. With a forward PE of 12.7. | tomps2
14/7/2017 12:01 | yes I'm aware of the special dividend and the statement re flat H1 sales, however the forecasts I'm looking at show very little growth for 2018, which is bad news to my mind. | mrx001
13/7/2017 17:59 | Plus you have missed out on the special dividend which is ex 2 weeks today. | grahamburn
13/7/2017 17:06 | Who knows what will happen with China, but I think blaming the flat H1 sales in the US on the weather may be reasonable. "NOAA said that it was the twenty-fourth wettest year on record dating to 1895." | mr_spock
13/7/2017 16:29 | In a bit of a pickle with this one, since although the presentations and spiel look and sound good, the forecasts are not that great. Have consequently sold half my shares to try and hedge my bets. I'm still not that optimistic about China, although if they could crack that it would be a big boost. It would be handy if there was a trading update. | mrx001
13/7/2017 11:19 | no trading update today. there was one this time last year. | mfhmfh
26/6/2017 21:08 | Hi all, Sorry for the delay, but I listened/watched that excellent piworld Presentation and wrote a Blog on it which highlights what I took from it as the Key Points. I hold some SOM and was very interested in what they had to say and in particular their view of the recent Trading Update. You can read the Blog here, you might have to scroll down a little bit, I hope you find it useful, cheers, WD. | thewheeliedealer
16/6/2017 10:10 | What a terrific presentation that is in post 1205 above. I trust the management having seen them present before - they know their job and their industry inside and out. I believe they will find a way to make China and India succeed, and if they do the implications are huge. Some understandable profit-taking going on, but the optimistic tone of the AGM statement going forward suggests that this should only be a temporary hiatus. Looking forward to the first of the special dividends. | rivaldo
16/6/2017 08:50 | Well, my buy was spectacularly badly timed. | shanklin
15/6/2017 10:32 | Plus these mag journalists write anything that can turn a share up or down. Plus general market is down | saj3
15/6/2017 10:28 | Shanklin I agree the company is growing and paying special divi and very cash generative so I think medium to long term it should be fine | saj3
15/6/2017 10:23 | saj3 I bought some yesterday having listened to the presentation. I like their business model and their use of spare cash for special dividends. Their reasons for the flat start to the year in the US seemed okay to me. I would certainly rather be buying the shares at a lower share price following weather-related weakness than but at a high following exceptionally favourable weather. | shanklin
15/6/2017 10:13 | Yep that's all it's saying info we already know | saj3 |
