03/10/2018 16:53 | And the 69p target is before the MRE update in November :O)))) | onedayrodders

03/10/2018 16:46 | Thank you pob69, I'm hoping for rather more than 69p, way too cheap in my view for the assets that Solg holds, and too cheap considering the favourable infrastructure enjoyed by Cascabel. At that 69p level it probably only amounts to the capital savings due to the favourable Cascabel access to water, power and roads/rail. | lefrene
03/10/2018 16:34 | Excellent $SOLG $SOLG.L #ecuador coverage from the Financial Times in the UK $CGP "...If there is one thing the world’s biggest mining companies can agree on it is that the copper market is headed for a big deficit over the next decade. Rio Tinto, for example, sees demand outstripping supply by 3m tonnes in 2025 because of declining ore grades, a dearth of new developments as well as increased demand as the world move to cleaner forms of energy. (A wind turbine capable of generating a megawatt of power — enough to supply 500 homes — requires more than three tonnes of copper). Miners are attempting to plug gap by stepping up drilling either directly — Rio has 16 copper exploration programmes in train — or indirectly — big investing in junior exploration companies. Last month BHP Billiton acquired a 6.1 per cent holding in SolGold, a London-listed explorer that analysts say has discovered one of the largest and highest grade copper deposits in the world in Ecuador. Since BHP bought its stake, shares in SolGold have leapt by 70 per cent and the company is now valued at more than $800m. They were trading at 37.15p on Wednesday. In a report published on Wednesday, Liberum, a London-based brokerage, said a “competitive bid situation may be on the horizon” if SolGold’s discovery lives up to expectations. SolGold’s other big shareholder, with 14.5 per cent stake, is Newcrest, a big Australian miner. “Considering the scarcity of copper ore bodies with Alpala’s size and grade, and with both Newcrest and now BHP on the register, we think SolGold’s valuation needs to be framed in terms of its utility to a potential acquirer,” said Liberum analyst Richard Knights as he set a 69p target price." | pob69
03/10/2018 16:26 | It’s all judgement!!! Nice article just posted on ft.com, but am on phone up in benahavis so don’t have the patience to load it!! Maybe someone else can.... | jerryspaniel
03/10/2018 16:25 | Competitive bid situation may develop for SolGold | tonysss13
03/10/2018 16:19 | I thank you for the compliment jerryspaniel, however as we all know judgement is down to the quality of information available, and doing one's best to screen out emotional bias. ie, is someone else messing with my head or am I messing with my head!! | lefrene
03/10/2018 16:09 | I believe lefrene to be a person of good judgement and I prefer to read rationale thoughts than some person saying where it will trade tomorrow or next week. I will nearly always learn more from a negative post than a puffer. If someone wants to short this stock then they are very foolish. My fear is being taken out at 70p, not someone who is short 100,000 shares. | jerryspaniel
03/10/2018 16:04 | Absolutely Alwayschangeing depending on your position! | wisteria2
03/10/2018 15:47 | Exactly Lefrene but do be careful. A rational post like that might have you accused of being short or moving ones goalposts! | alwaysevolving
03/10/2018 14:41 | I feel that just because one holds something long term it shouldn't blind you to some of the negatives, nothing is ever all roses and chocolates. I hold because I think the " multi generational" reserves in Solg are worth vast amounts of money, plus they have an intrinsic value that can transcend fiat currencies hiccups. I see NM talking up the company, but I also see that NM has failed to deliver on the quarterly resource updates that were promised. That pushes Solg into typical AiM (I know we're off AiM) style penny horrors where directors talk the talk but don't deliver on it. Ah yes it's just around the corner, it'll be here soon. That isn't what keeps me or the market happy. You said it, you deliver it, I don't want excuses. I feel we risk getting taken out on the cheap because of failure to regularly update the market as promised. NM could find himself playing catch up, if a bid is launched before he has all his ducks lined up. If I know it, as sure as anything a load of people with the big miners, who I'm sure are brighter than me, know it. If I was a big predator I would have my spies in Solg and would know a lot more than the ordinary punter, I would be calculating the best time to pounce, I doubt if waiting for a public rns of the MRE and PEA would be in my best interests. | lefrene
03/10/2018 14:17 | More coverage of Liberum's $SOLG note with new Bloomberg article (translated from Spanish) Copper search would attract attention to #Ecuador's small mining company The interest of large mining companies in the small copper exploration company SolGold Plc is probably not over yet, according to Liberum Capital Markets. The company's shares have risen nearly 70 percent since BHP Billiton Ltd. bought a 6.1 percent stake last month, just two years after SolGold rejected a takeover bid by the world's top miner. . Now there could be a battle for the Brisbane-based producer, whose largest shareholder is Newcrest Mining Ltd., Liberum said. "A situation of competitive offers could appear on the horizon," Liberum said. "As two large mining companies are now in their registry, we think about the value of SolGold from the point of view of its value to an acquirer," the company said, adding that SolGold could be worth between US $ 1,000 million and US $ 1,800 million. | pob69
03/10/2018 14:06 | some good buying at the moment .. and moving blue That's a decent flush out if we can hold from here and move on | onedayrodders

03/10/2018 13:31 | Do agree its come from 20p. But it's fallen from 46p. With hindsight (isn't hindsight wonderful) should have sold @ 46p. Much more substance to company now but price is lower. Makes no sense at all. Going to take a definite rumour of T/O or J/V to move it. | mam fach
03/10/2018 13:21 | alwaysevolving .. 03/10/2018 12:00 | Not short at all Wisteria2. On the contrary I’m ‘very’ long here and have been for a long time. It always amuses me how someone always assumes one is short for stating what’s obvious to see. | alwaysevolving

03/10/2018 10:51 | “Nothing is moving share price North at the moment. Very strange. No idea why” Mamfach, I would argue that the only reason we moved up from 21p to 39p in short order was the fact that BHP took a 6% stake. The fact is no one really knows what BHP plan next or indeed when they will make their next move despite the fact it’s agreed they probably will make some sort of a move at some point? Regardless, it’s the unknowns that are probably holding this back IMHO. That combined with the fact we know the next significant news is not due till Nov/Dec and with NM already making it clear that the next MRE update will be double, that could already be priced in? On that point I would hope that now he has stated that fact he knows that 100% upside on MRE is going to be conservative or the share price will suffer come the announcement if it comes in at even a little less than double? I would say it’s all of the above that is stopping this moving higher and is causing the current pullback as I predicted yesterday. | alwaysevolving |
