Well all has gone to plan so far.The next thing is that the market does not react until a few days after the results, if you go by what happened in the past.Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Looks like it has started its normal run just before the results

Not many people post here but looks to me that this share follows the same patten.Hits a high then falls back before the announcement of the interims and final result, then goes upwards after this Be interesting to see if this happens again

Look at the END on 25th July. 6 days before year end NED Vin Murria bought £1m of stock. Enough said.

One or two of us sold from the 390/400+ area on the way up. I said at the time I was just profit taking and longer term would fully expect to become a holder of Softcat again.

. . . Just wondering did anyone who took profits at that time ever rebuy when the share price started retracing below 400?

. . . 349p would tempt me back in :)

This bit might also explain some of the share price fall.

"We saw no particular evidence of change to market dynamics, whether due to the beginning of the Brexit process or the upcoming General Election."

"No particular evidence," suggests some doubt about this. Without adding the word "particular" I doubt the share would have fallen as far. "No evidence" would have been taken as no risk of any Brexit or election effect on the business. "Particular" gives a hint of uncertainty about that. Election result looks a certain Tory win, so that just leaves Brexit where they might have misgivings, but see no signs of that YET.

I thought the statement was positive:

1. 'Customer demand has been robust and costs were also well-managed during the Period'

robust and costs well-managed sound positive

2. 'The Board remains confident that the Company will deliver a strong result for the full year'

strong sounds positive

3. 'Demand for IT infrastructure from both corporate and public sector customers remained strong during the Period'

strong again mentioned

4. 'it's pleasing to see the breadth of our offering continue to grow in areas where there is both commercial opportunity and customer demand."

grow, opportunity, demand sound positive

However, CEO stepping down may be contributing to the current negative market reaction.

A definite hold for me.

All IMHO.

Interesting psychological reaction to an in-line statement.
Clearly there had been some unrealistic over-anticipation of what it was likely to contain although it is not clear why that should be. Possibly some were reading more than was justified into the strength of the share price over the past 6 months, e.g that it might be due to some 'informed' opinion.
So prospects remain broadly and happily as outlined in the half-year report.

I had already reduced my position (too early as it turned out) but if the current weakness extends a little further I may be able to restore it advantageously.

Sold the rest of my holding as 455p target is close. Looks likely to move sideways for awhile - that could become protracted.

If you're a short term trader yes next week could be important. Personally couldn't care less if it went back to 3.50 next week as I'm holding these long term. As long as eps in annual accounts shows progress and good cash flow and no debt is maintained. I've learned the hard way to follow fundamentals in my long term holds rather than share price

Just a smidgen of a hint, that things may be up for a change after Easter. Could be as little as a plateau or even just a brief pause; or maybe it turns out to be nothing at all. But if this 'hint' gathers pace then...... (Cue soundtrack to Jaws)

. . . - How the day closes next Tuesday will be important for SCT.
