A good article from Investors Chronicle today.
Bull points:
Robust trading since the coronavirus outbreak
Migration to Windows 10
Rise in Government spending

Berenberg's estimates say that Softcat holds around 3% market share so leaving signification room to expand.

What is there not to like about this share!

Who knows - was 6/2/18 and 9/1/19 but 2020 does not yet exist:

DevonWood (450) - I think the difference is more or less justified by their different growth rates and balance sheets and possibly risk factors too. In particular compare their net debt figures.

SCT looks an unusually clean and understandable operation which may appeal to the less sophisticated investor. Something is clearly giving it a premium rating and is causing me mild regret at having top-sliced it prematurely a couple of times.

Overpriced (SCT) or a bargain (CCC) - only time will tell!

The market has today delivered a verdict not so much on the performance (excellent) of the company as on the unjustified expectations of investors. As said in a preceding post, a slight pause in an exceptional growth rate had already been flagged and today's figures and outlook are quite consistent. We have merely lost a bit of the froth and the price now looks quite reasonable as a base for steady progress.
Any further significant drop (relative to the background market) could be a sensible entry or accumulation point imo.

The slowdown was also clearly sign-posted before today. Broker forecasts before today were eps growth 35.1% for FY18 and 6.1% for FY19. (stockopedia)

Are we saying investors woke up this morning and realised new forecast growths are below those announced and started selling out? when this was clearly sign-posted? Hmmm

Softcat results look impressive. However, management fails to provide a meaningful outlook to shareholders. So, they refer to the brokers forecast for guidance.

Management telling investors that the outlook looks encouraging isn't enough.

1452 GMT - Softcat's outlook comments are to blame for the company's share drop, as its half-year results are strong, AJ Bell Investment Director Russ Mould says. The information-technology supplier said that it has some important months ahead and cautioned that macro-economic factors relating to Brexit may hit customer appetite to invest. "This almost amounts to a mild profit warning and for a company like Softcat, which was previously trading on a lofty valuation, even the possibility of a worse than expected performance is enough to drive investors to the exit door," Mr. Mould says. Shares fall 12% to 598 pence.

One view of why the price drop.
