-------------------- OIL Tanks as Trump Tweets ------------------

U.S. crude oil drops about 3.4% to $53.48 a barrel.

IMO $50 can now happen as early as next week

It's what happens with the wrong kind of tweet

Seems Peel Hunt have reiterated their buy recommendation at the end of last month. Cannot see the price though.

Aaahhh yes - thats right. There was a shareholder option to take shares in either income or capital form.

Hi ee,

You're probably thinking allocation of 'B' shares , which on (eventual) sale gave liability to Capital Gains, rather than income tax, hence more flexibility in arranging affairs according to personal circumstances.

IIRC, etc

Thanks for the useful summary. 91.8p it is.The first 2-3 payments were actually made as returns of capital, rather than as dividends (for some reason connected with taxation that I now forget).Note the dividend increases every year since 2016 - and also the precedent for an interim divi in 2016.

Thanks - I recalled a maiden 40p payment but couldn’t trace details of it, so convinced myself that the 22p one was actually the first and blamed my memory. I will trawl through the old reports and RNSs again to locate the date and circumstances. The addition of the cash dividends does indeed lessen the overall pain of holding this share, as you have previously said, albeit it’s still rather uncomfortable. However I remain optimistic !

Emptyend - a question if I may. I have been a long term SIA holder for more years than I care to remember and was just trying to reconcile your comment about nearly £1 per share having been returned to shareholders. Are you including buybacks in this or only cash payments ? For avoidance of doubt, this is a genuine question for my interest and accuracy as I didn’t think we’d had as much as that in cash. I’m not looking to start a slagging match ! Thanks in advance.

I see Tullow's market cap has gone up by £450mn this morning, thanks to a substantial explo well result in Guyana.....Should get some attention for companies with explo opportunities, reminding the market of the upside potential.....?

> I wouldn't expect any individual wells in Egypt to be gamechangers

me neither but I'm beginning to think that convincing the market that the company is on the path to raising production and that the dividend can be sustained for longer could be.

I'd like to see them put Egypt well results out on twitter.

If they are initally just drilling infill wells to improve existing production I'd be surprised if they bother to RNS them individually.

Thank you EE and oilinvestorAl. I would agree about any result not being game changing re: a single well but hopefully a positive result will get us into a more positive investor mindset and we will start heading towards 100p+ again. Bring on the positive news and let's see the LONG awaited turn in share price please!
